brison 2.4ci/39cc
Anyone 3D with this engine? If so I would appreciate any comments you would like to give. I'm thinking of building an 80" profile around this engine Target weight would be 11-12 lbs, what do you think?
Thanks, Kenny |

I think that you should do great with that engine. It is a pretty good all around engine that doesnt weigh too much. You might look at the aeroworks 80 profile or Ohio model planes has an 80 inch edge profile kit and an arf too i think.

The Brison 2.4 is really a strong running engine, I have had no problems at all with them. I just installed a new Brison 2.4 in an 80" D&L Edge 540 I built this winter. The overall weight ready to fly came in at 12lbs 4oz, the Brison pulls the plane unlimited and will torque roll the plane with ease. I have seen a few other 2.4 at my home field and they can handle a plane with a weight of about 14 - 14 1/2 lbs for unlimited vertical with the right prop, over about 14 1/2 you will lose a little. Keep the plane light you you will have a ton of power to spare.

THis engien will swing a 20x8 propeller with no problem so you should be able to 3D like crazy.

Thanks for the replies! I appreciate all of them and any more that you might have.
Scott, what size and brand prop are you using? Thanks, Kenny |

I few of the guys at the field I fly at have this engine and it is very reliable and pulls a 12-14 lb. plane like crazy. I have a BME 44 on the AW profile turning a BME 21 x 8 prop at 6800 rpm and the plane is awesome. First flight yesterday and a bunch more today. Only thing I didn't like about the Brison is that you have to do the mods to mount the engine as for the BME it mounts on rails.

Yea, Brison mounts like most of the big gassers, the BME mounts like a glow engine.

As far as the prop, I am using a Zinger Pro 20x8. I an currently turning it at 7400 rpm. I can probably get it to increase a little once the engine breaks in some more. I now have about 8 flights on the new engine and haven't had to touch the carb needles yet ! Once I get about 2 gallons through it I will give it a little tweek and see if the rpms increase.

I am flying a Morris Hobbies Giant Sudokohi, which is my favorite plane. Weight is 15lbs on inacurate bathroom scales, 1800sq + inches. The 2.4 is just now broken in. Running a 18x12 and sometimes a 20x10 Zingers with no problems. The plane floats in at a walk speed for landings with flaporons. I cant say enough good things about Brison engines as I have 4. 2.4 two 3.2s and a 4.2.

If you switch to a 20x8 APC, NX or Menz propeller you will see a great improvement.
