Lomcevak?
 

Does anyone know how to do a lomcevak?(spelling?) Also what type of plane/setup is required? And possibly a video? Thanks to all. Ed

Canesugarrules I don't have a video or link but I can try to describe to you how I do them. I usually enter to do a Lomcevak (spelling) from the left ,I roll to a knife edge and hold left rudder as I began to reach myself I do a positive left snap at full throttle sometime 65% throttle ( full up elevator left rudder and left aileron) as the plane goes inverted from the snap I immediately apply full down elevator and opposite aileron and hold full left rudder and the tail will flip over the top as the plane is facing the other direction I release all the controls and the plane will sit motionless for a second them it will fly out and you just recover as normal . I have a 1/4 Pitts that does them really well ,I have tried them on my 1/3 scale Edge 540T and the lomcevak looks very violent but that maybe because I do them on 3D rate (Hehehehe) I hope this helps you out and good luck with them they sure are a crowed pleaser.

No you don't need a 3D plane to do them like I said my 1/4 sclae pitts does them very well and it dosent 3D at all an easy sport 40 size will do them pretty good just set the throws as far as you can get them to go .

there are so many different types of tumbles, i forget what the true Lomcevak is, but this is how I remember it from watching a leo laudenslager video one time (I used to do this all the time with my old lanier dart).

pull to a 45-60 degree upline

Start a full deflection aileron roll to either side (one way will work better than the other....left I think)

When you get to knife edge, immediatly throw in full opposite rudder (opposite to the direction you are rolling) and full down elevator.

The plane should do a wierd outside snap and then go tail over nose....very very cool

PS. It helps to have a heavy plane with heavy wings (more roll inertia)

So I was pretty close. If that is the true Lomcevak. Looks like the main difference between what he did and what I said is that he does a 1-1/4 roll to knife edge (dont hold at knifeedge...you need the inerta), then full rudder, then full down.

There are six types of lomcevak's, CAP, conic, positive conic, etc. Each has a very specific look and they should be considered a precision maneuver. ALL lomecevaks require gyroscopic precession. Problem is, most models will not have enough propeller mass to start any significant precession; hence, models don't lomcevak... they tumble and flop. The "standard" Lomecevak involves three end over end tumbles and with each tumble the plane has precessed 45 degrees due to the props rotational inertia. I have yet to see any model do this.

However, I will have to admit that when pilots ask me what that end over end tumble was called, I respond "Lomcevak."
