"What do the TOC guys..."

Well, I use... <smack -- wake up!, wake up!>... whu?... huh?... oh yeah... I mean, they use alot of 8411s, 9204s, and this year 9206s. :D

Dido on what Joe said. I've seen some people use the Hitech digitals(not sure what number though). If you can spring for the money, go with the JRs. Futaba makes some great servos too, I just havent seen any on planes at my field.

I lost a plane last year to the older rev Hitec digitals. I set the travel from 100 to 150 and they locked out on the subsequent flight. But, I hear alot of good things online about the newer revs... especially the 5945s. But, no one at my field runs them. Either 8411s or 9204s.

Yeah... I bought a 5735 for my AW 33% Edge ARF... but wasn't impressed with the ARF so I sold it all to Chris.<g>

I might end up with two 5735s on my rudder depending on which 40% I pick up this week.

Hitec Digital servo problem.

I've read about this a few times. It was due to I think more than 120 degree throw which makes the servo automatically lock up. They have since fixed the problem.

Yup... I picked up some of the older rev at my LHS last summer and flew them in a H9 Edge for around 20 flights... then my buddy Mickey changed the ATV setting from 100 to 150 and the servos locked out on the next flight and the plane went in.

I'll get you a pic tomorrow. :-) I took the beast up for a little spin around the field in the dark tonight. Trimmed it out and sat it down. I'll run a few gallons through it tomorrow and let you know what I think.

Got to the field at 1:45pm without my transmitter... left the plane at the field... went back home... got back at 2.:30pm... flew seven flights on the new DA-150. It started to break-in... TRed over the runway "hands off." These 40%ers are everything that I thought they would be. More later...

Andrew

It weighs 42 lbs with the custom 3D stabs on it. It should come in around 40 lbs with stock stabs. A new stock kit should come in around 37-38 lbs. This one is just built very stout using alot of 1/4" aircraft plywood.

These big planes really do fly smooth... and even though this one is majorly tail heavy (I'm going to change that) and pretty heavy (probably change that, too)... it doesn't snap out hard. It does start to snap out in alot of maneuvers... but not violently... it snaps out slowly... giving you time to correct.

I wouldn't judge a stock AW by this plane, though... this plane is pretty modified.

Yup... Quique said the one he was flying in '99 was 34 lbs. Jason's is supposed to be 34-35 lbs. I heard Quique glassed over the sheeting on the one that he got up to 38-39 lbs. Add a 3 lbs tail weight for 3D and you have my plane.

Have you weighed that lead weight, Eli?
