Help for the new 3D Guy . . .
 

Hi All,

I am purchasing a really nice Goldberg Extreme 330 Profile plane from a guy at my Club--

The plane has coreless BB servo's and looks like it flies really great-- He has done some structural strengthining and the plane is really nice.

Questions:

I have an Irvine .53- the manufacturer says-12x7 or 12x8 props- but the guys who do 3d say throw a 13x4 orsomething on my plane.

What do I do ? anyone got experience with this set-up ? Same hardware and plane ? I know I want and APC funfly prop but what would be perfect for this combo >?

Any other tidbits appreciated.

I don"t have this plane... I do have 5 profiles though. your 53 will fly this plane well unless it's VERY heavy... average is 5Lb. you would be ok up to 5.5 IMHO power wise, anything over 5.5 will hurt hover pull out. Your prop selection is not bad... if your 53 turn's the APC 13x4W then run it...it should handle it, if your lacking the R's then try an APC 12.25x3.75, either prop should be a good match for your engine.

I also have this plane, it is a very nice plane. I've had it for six months now and I always use between 11x6 - 12x4 props. It wouldn't hurt anything to go bigger. Using a 13x4 prop should do well. Anyways you have a Irvine .53 versus my .46 Thunder Tiger so you can go even go up to around 14 something with that engine. Although when I used the 11x6 prop it flew faster. But of course this a 3-D plane and the bigger the prop the better, especially for hovering techniques only if the engine is powerful enough. So I'd say anything from 10x2 to maybe 14x5 is great. But yeah, I been enjoying this plane alot. I'm thinking about throwing a Saito .72 on it. Just hope I can handle it.
