Uproar

It's a great flying plane. Easy to build. Doesn't have any bad habits. The Dazzler is essentially the same plane with a fuselage which contributes to knife edge flight possibility. Bill

Probably the best $40 kit you'll find. Do a search on this forum and you'll find that lots of folks are flying these models. I'm building my second (and I haven't even crashed my first).

Do You Uproar?

f2racer "done told the truth"! We are using them as our club pylon racers, with TT Pro .46's. What a blast! A great flying little airplane out of a $40.00 kit. I apologize for calling them "Upchucks", prior to flying mine. Go for it! :D

OK, I'm sold. I ordered the kit today. I ready to build my first kit and this is it.
What modifications should I make to the control surfaces to get best over-all performance? I'm planning on putting an os46fx in it. Is that too much weight?

It is basically a Dazzler without a turtle deck. I love my Daz with the OS46FX....power to spare. It wont knife edge worth a crap, and it is hard to hover, but it is tons of fun to just whip around.

It was my first kit as well. Very easy to build. It's going to be my second kit also. I glued a 1/2" stick onto the front of the rudder giving me a little extra umph on knife (but knife is definitely not the Uproars strong suite), but you may wannt do 1" or more or make it taller as well as wider. Also you may want to make the elevators larger, and allow for more rudder travel. Your engine will be fine...

Enjoy!

I/VE HAD TWO UPROARS AND LOST FIRST ON DUE TO A FLAME OUT LOW TO GROUND ON WRONG END OF RUNWAY. DIDNT MAKE IT BACK AND CARTWHEELED IT IN THE DIRT. IT IS REPAIRABLE BUT FOR 40 BUCKS AND BOUT ANOTHER. THE/RE LIGHT BUT NOT REAL STURDY. I ADDED AN INCH TO RUDDER ON SECOND ONE AND IT DIDNT SEEM TO CHANGE IT MUCH. HAD A ST 51 ENGINE ON IT AND ITS A ROCKET WITH THAT, SO A 46 WOULD BE PLENTY OF JUICE. CAN/T BEAT IT FOR THE PRICE.

I have the 60 and its a blast. I pushed the rudder back three inches by extending the fuse, added an inch to the rudder, and added a dorsel fin from half way up vert. fin to about a third of the way up the fuse. A 120 in/oz pull-pull servo and it will do knife edge loops. This thing was easy to build and a lot of fun to fly. I'm modifying it again, adding spoilers!!!!

If i get the 60 what kind of engine will i need for some good vertical?

Im running a OS 61FX with a tuned pipe and a 12/5 prop. I get "okay" vertical with it. I'm putting a YS91FZ on it this week and should be unlimited vertical.

I got the .40 combo from tower with the os.40 LA what can i expect with this engine? Is it any good?

I can't really say. I have a buddy that has a 40 but he's running a 4 stroke on it. The thing to remember is that the plane has a thick airfoil so you are not looking for speed, you want power. Put a large diam and short pitch prop on the engine and be aware of throttle setting.

A standard brushing bearing such as the 40 LA will do great in the Uproar if you're going to do sport/fun flying. Built with an 11-12oz engine/muffler and you're looking at a 3.5-4lb plane. I had a TT GP-42 on mine and it would do almost everything. I have been able to hang the Uproar on the prop, but when it starts falling off, there's little extra power to correct. That being said, a powerful BB 32-39 engine would make the Uproar a much better plane if you wanted to hover a lot and torque roll. I've got a TT Pro-36 in mine now and vertical is unlimited. Even from a hover, hit full throttle and within seconds the Uproar is a dot in the sky...
