need a plane for summer
i need a plane that will hover on a 46 it doesn't need to do much else perhaps like a limbo dancer or magic but where i will fly will be quite windy it also has to be arf
|
RE: need a plane for summer
Magic or Cougar then
Cougars don't seem to mind wind, tho it screws the hovering. maybe a heavier SPAD like a SPA3D will be better in the winds. |
RE: need a plane for summer
how bout the magic extra reduced wing area and all but not sure about the 46 on it
|
RE: need a plane for summer
and if i have to i could use my satio 72
|
RE: need a plane for summer
one here with a 46, pretty good plane. depends on what you want from it, the Cougar is more of a chucker "abuse me you wimp, come on that all you got, wuss" plane :D
the Magic extra, well it's just abused by your average club sport pilot who thinks he can now 3D the Magic is again a club abuse model but for slower more floaty style. the differnce is the Cougar will give you two fingers back when you think your being rough with it. |
RE: need a plane for summer
got any other suggestions for a plane and which one would you pic
|
RE: need a plane for summer
i say go for cougar
if youve got a satio 72?!?!? well then, a whole world opens up there. loads of plane that itll work in! hows your capiche doing, that saito will go a treat in it |
RE: need a plane for summer
With a Saito .72, a UCANDO 46 will hover all day long. I have one and it is great. I would buy another.
|
RE: need a plane for summer
if you can get a hold of the Hanger 9 Twist try it!
for $99 US its a deal. |
RE: need a plane for summer
out of the three 30-40 sized funflys i'd have the Cougar.
sounds like your after just a hoverer and a bash about one at that, i'd still go with a Cougar if you want to spend cash, or a SPA3D if you want a knock about fun machine. once you go up in engine size you start taking the pure fun out of things unless you've got money pouring out of pockets |
RE: need a plane for summer
Magic or Cougar then Cougars don't seem to mind wind, tho it screws the hovering. I coulda sworn you guys said you would kick my if I put an Irvine .46 in a Cougar!!!! That settles it my Irvine .46 is destined for a Cougar! |
RE: need a plane for summer
if it's all you've got, but a decent 36-37 will wipp it's sorry ass anyday
|
RE: need a plane for summer
Yeah of course it would, because its lighter. But I can still get 2.5:1 which os good enough. Maybe when I get my birthday money Ill get a Cougar, I just need to join the club.
|
RE: need a plane for summer
okay then its the cogar then but hows the kit do i need to buy any extras for while im in the middle of egypt for 2 months (no model shops in the country!) i dont want to get there and have to order someyhing and wait a month till i can fly!
|
RE: need a plane for summer
I dunno how the Cougar comes but since the Hype is is the same company the linkages are that plastic stuff but you can get away with it as long as you secure them real nice and good with coloured fuel tubing, the clear stuff always tears for me. You need anything like fuel tubing, PM and I have spares, lots of it and I can mail them to egypt for free.
|
RE: need a plane for summer
all plastic links. i tried a metal clevis but the thread pitch was different[:'(] ill find some at W&W. youd need a new engine mount and yo need to re-drill the mount holes on the firewall. Ive nown severall UCs to break on the stock cougar one, take some 10swg and 12swg piano wire and some wire and solder to make a new one if it breaks. obviouly balsa for mandertory repairs cos its easy to crash a cougar cos you get too confident and pushyour luck
|
RE: need a plane for summer
swap the links and rods over. thats about it really.
UC isn't that bad these days, it was the one without the tube that broke easily |
RE: need a plane for summer
are the rods odd sizes? they seem M2 but are the pitch thread different
|
RE: need a plane for summer
probably imperial
