Need some help here! Please????
I am trying to find a certait plane that was very sleek and looked to be almost entry level pattern. I haven't seen it advertised for a couple of years now and I missed my chance to get one. It was called the 'Thunderbird' and I can't remember the Manufactuter. In the ads it was a bright red! Does anyone remember this plane, and maybe someone has it??? Thanks much. :(

Firebird?
It's possible that you mean the "Firebird", a bright red ARF that Tower Hobbies used to sell. I think it was made by either Hobbico or Great Planes. It was a .40 size "pattern trainer" sort of sport ARF.
I looked on Tower's web site and couldn't find it, so (if that's the one) it may have been discontinued. Not much help... Sorry. |

Thanks Mike, but I do remember it being the Thunderbird, probably because I collected them for awhile. It was also a kit, not an ARf. Well I guess tomorrow I go through some old mags and see if I can find all the details, didn't really want to do that though. :(

The Plane
The plane was kitted by a gentleman in Springfield Il. His name was Tommy George. I will see if I can get ahold of him and see if he has any more of the planes you are refering to. It looked like a Kaos with a turtledeck. They seemed to fly very very well and would make a great first time pattern bird.

Yes it did kind of look like a Kaos, but much sleeker looking. Thanks much and I sent you a PM.

Still Looking
I am still looking. I am going to a local fun fly in a couple of hours and will ask around there. I hope maybe Tommy will be at the fun fly but if not I might be able to just run by his shop to see if he has anything left.

Thunderbird
It was called the Thunderbird. my cdad has one NIB. I think Direct Connect were the nes who kitted it. I will ask him. This plane is nothing more that a Kaos. Very few differences (if any).
