Is anyone using pushrods on the elevator on this plane? I think I would like to go this route instead of the pull-pull. I always thought that pull-pull wires were to be of equal length in order to work correctly. The instructions show both rudder and elevator servos off center, which would require each side of both to be of different lengths. I have thought about trying the bellcrank from Central Hobbies, but thought I should seek out some advice first. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks

Pull-Pull
Pull-pull is definitely superior to pushrods. Smooth Precise movement, no bowing, and less weight. The length of each side has no effect on elevator travel. If the cable is pulled 1 inch at one end it will pull 1 inch at the other. It makes no difference how long each cable is or whether they are the same. One could be 24 inches long and the other 2 inches.
The pull-pull elevator is a little difficult to install if you've never done one. You will need to put the upper elevator wires in some sort of sheath because they will rub on a former. I use the inside piece of a nyrod assm. Same for the right side of the rudder pull-pull. Just my $.02  |
slow roll baby!
i run the pull pull on the elevator & that is one smooth set up. I hope i dont have anunexpected pull pull wire to break!

Can anyone tell me about control surface throws for the DP Ultimate? I just bought one used from a hobby store with no instructions.

Carbon fibre rods and dual servos is set up on mine for the elevator. The pull-pull would have been a pain to set up. Also my understanding was that the servo arm and the distance on the control arms are supposed to be the same for pull-pull. There was no way that there was room enough for that in there that we could figure out. As it was, we had to mount the rudder servo higher than the two elevatro servos.
Definitely a nice plane to fly although still intimidated by it at this point. |

I have pull-pull on my DP Ultimate and it works just fine.
The only difference is that I used Du-Bro 4/40 pull-pull cables. |

Just finished installing the pull pull on mine. It wasn't nearly as bad as I thought it would be. I Think I need to raise the elevator servo some to keep the wires from rubbing on the formers, though. Anyone else have to do this?

You have to cut out the covering on the bottom of the fuselage and sand the clearance out for the cables. It's not as much work or as hard as it sounds. You can use a dremel with a snake attatchment, or you can use sandpaper wrapped around a pencil.
I'm telling you, pull-pull is a great system unless you're flying pattern. p.s. Don't get those cables so tight that it's like a banjo. All you really have to do is just take out the slack. |
