RE: Best 3-D plane

If money is no issue there are any number of planes to be had. then it depends on the amount of time you have. it could be argued that the best plane for 3D might be a profile. it could also be argued that a giant scale gasser would be the best.

in the end you need more criteria in your search to come back with positive results.

I have the EF yak and it flies AWESOME.

Definitely what I would recomend... with a YS110. Great power:weight ratio and the thing flies unbelievably well

If your fairly new to 3D and are looking for a good practice plane I would suggest you look at the TufFlight 4D. It is extremely durable and capable of all 3D manuevers. I have one and it has well over 50 crashes with no damage.

You can check them out at : http://www.tufflight.com/4d.html

Capiche 140 does flawless 3D and pattern. It was what the British freestyle champion used last september to win the british freestyle aero champs. Its a two metre model for YS 140 or similar coming in at around 10.25lbs ready to fly.

www.flycapiche.co.uk has lots of info

RE: Best 3-D plane

ok, some of the planes like a 40% edge are bigger than i wanna fly, i wanna stay with a 3-d plane that flies well with like a 1.8 saito or a 1.4 ys engine........

RE: Best 3-D plane

I think some additonal info is needed.

Electric or Glow or Gas.

What size plane?

What type of plane? You asked for 3D. Many airplanes can 3D. Do you want a Scale looking plane like a Yak, Extra, Edge, etc? Profile plane? Or pure 3D plane. 3D planes are like the UCD, Flip or Hype.

10 years ago we had no choices, today you not only have choices, but different types of birds.

Once you figure on what type of bird you want and what size, it is easier to figure out. Right now with the generic 3D plane questions, your getting from a 40% bird to a Shock Flyer.

RE: Best 3-D plane

well in the size range is the Extreme flight Yak but the 140 ys will be a bit overkill for it . the plane was built for the ys 110 which will save you money on glow fuel abainst the larger glow engines. But, if the 140 size plane is what youre looking for then check out the Quique Somenzini Yak54 it was disigned with the YS 140 in mind.and it has a 72" wing span. these are great 3D and IMAC birds. .

there are a lot of people on rcu who love both these planes. and a LONG thread on both of them. in this size range you wont find much to beat these planes.

Extreme Flight YAK!!!!!

I am a newbie in 3d and my prior 3d plane was a Funtana 40, which is quite nice in itself.

I few thru about 2 gallons on my EF Yak the last 3 days, and I am nuts about this airplane. I just wanted to add a vote for it! It costs a bit more than other options, but combine good looks, with awesome flight characteristics, and an easy build ( Best ARF I have ever built ).

I can't wait to see reviews of the 87" Yak! I want a gasser and that one is going to be it I think.

If you are new to 3D then get a foamy. The Blade is nice with the AXI motor. Once you are good at 3d with that then for a small 3d I have the Mini 3D with an OS 25 LA very nice to hover. I know you want something a little bigger but just my 2 cents worth :D
Check out the link for the Blade.

If money is really no issue, then get a 3.3 Composite-Arf Yak. There is nothing better.
