toque roll out of hover

hi guys
im teaching myself how to hover. i have a phoenix extra with a saito FA80GK with a 12.5 x 3.75 apc prop. i can hold it for a while, but it always rolls to the left. i guess this is due to the toque of the engine, but i cant stop it even with full opposite aileron. HELP
thanks GREG

Not sure about the Phoenix, but most extras have the aielerons located outside of the prop blast, so they really aren't going to do much to prevent roll. Heard someone suggest setting up a split elevator with two servos programed to mix aieleron function, but i don't know if anyone has tried it.

thank you for your reply. the ailerons go to within about an inch of the fuz, but they are only about one eighth of the wing chord. would making these larger help, or would that throw to much air off the tail. I love the idea of a split elevator/aileron mix. I had thought of it, but dissmissed it as something that wouldnt work, because i'd never heard of it. Knowing that someone else had the same idea has me inspired. I might just have to try.

Try leaning the plane forward just a tiny bit while in the hover. This will usually help the torkin tendency.

I've heard guys say raising the ailerons to prevent the torque roll...any guys done this before? I suppose this would lean the aircraft like wgeffon is suggesting?

Yes,
Double what wayne said. The plane will be very stable leaning forward a bit. I just learned the hard way, but did learn to hover well in the process. Just do an elevator and feed in one click of throttle at a time (well below half) untill it stops falling. At this point you will be hovering and you can use the rudder to steer it around. I got quite good at this.
That was where the problem started. What's next? more throttle, and then it went full vertical and right into a torque roll. You'll wanna make sure you are at least two mistakes high. One's not enough, I know LOL.

While hovering my TT 120 powered Goldberg Extra 300, the ailerons wouldn't stop the torque roll.

But by mixing aileron into the dual elevator servos, I was easily able to stop the torque roll, and even reverse it. Initially I did this using the Ailervator program on my 8UAF, but later created a separate Pmix so I could turn the aileron mixing on and off with a switch.
