It flies!!!
IT FLIES!!! And it flies VERY WELL!
This thing is awesome.. Unlimited vertical, crazy fast rolls and snaps.. It rocks the house. Flew two tanks through it, got it trimmed perfectly, and that's that. I do need farther control throws though. If I get longer servo arms will that increase the throw? I gotta experiment more. I love it. Wish I had more time to fly.. Oh well, there's tomorrow! http://cousinlarry.com/images/rc/UCDflying1.jpg http://cousinlarry.com/images/rc/UCDflying3.jpg http://cousinlarry.com/images/rc/UCDflying4.jpg And here's the aircraft carrier :D http://cousinlarry.com/images/rc/aircraftcarrier.jpg Those are the only pics so far.. My girly was taking the pics. I'll get better ones and/or vid next time.. |
RE: It flies!!!
Thats all well and good, but what is it, what engine, what radio etc?

RE: It flies!!!
Nice UCD. As for the throws, be sure your surfaces will move farther by disconnecting the linkage and moving them by hand. Sometimes if they are hinged to close to the wing it will limit their movement. As long as they have more throw available, have you maxed out your servo's throw? If available on your radio, you can increase your ATV or similar parameter. Obviously you should be using your outermost hole on your servo arm. It's best to try and stay near the outer end of your control horn as well to help minimize slop in your control surface. This will lessen the chance of flutter as well. If you've done all this already, then longer servo arms are the next step, which I believe was your original question. Are you using a two-stroke?

RE: It flies!!!
Sorry for the lack of details :)
It's the U-Can-Do .46. I'm using a spare OS .65LA I've had laying around for over a year. The engine works awesome on it, and it is very powerful. The prop is 12x6, I am going to try 13x5 too. The TX is a Futaba 9CH radio. I have the servo travel maxed, and am using the outermost holes on the horns/arms. And yeah, the surfaces can move further. I just need the elevator and rudder to move more, the ailerons are fine. I programmed in flaperons (airbrake in the manual) and it drops the ailerons about 40%. It REALLY lets the plane float in landing.. It'll fly at walking speed. It's awesome. I can't wait to go after work today, got the plane in the car ready to go! |
