entry level 3D arf

I'm new to the 3D forum so excuse me if this issue has already been exhausted.
I need advice on an entry level 3D arf 40 size for my son . He has mastered his WM T-34 & GP RV-4. I've been considering the H9 Funtana or GP UCD and if neither is advisable our local dealer stocks the Jet hobbies Fun Air ??

For an entry level plane, I would definitely recommend the UCD. A funtana will definitely do more but is more advanced and can bite you in the ass if you don't watch it.

Why don't you start him out with a profile plane? They are lighter, less expensive and tougher than than most planes.

I usually recommend a Trainer for entry level pilots. All the UCD 40 and 60 riff raff packidy whack is bogus.

i went from a trainer to a UCD .46 with a Saito .82 and it's fun...there really isn't anything to be scared of considering that you can limit the amount of throw either way with a programmable radio or from the horns on the control surfaces. I set mine up so that ail/rud/elev all had about 1" of movement either way. Once i flew the plane around 3-4 flights and got used to the plane a little and felt comfortable i moved everything up to full rates, there is a big difference at full rates but that can also be programmed out with expo if you feel you need too.

What i'm trying to say is don't be scared of these planes because you can adjust the throws before you fly it, besides it's nice having a plane to grow into instead of growing out of.

Thanks Guys
You made up my mind. I went ahead and ordered the UCD .46.
I already have an OS 70 ultimate that should be a great match.
Thanks again .
