I want one

I like it for the monokote feature alone. I am scared the wing does not look removable ??? looks as if it slides in and mabe is glued . I am sure it is not but the pic looks that way ??
THE carl goldberg will be hard to resist over great planes. though

Beavis, I agree about the wing looking like its on there for good. It's certainly one-piece. I looked closely at the picture on the Great Planes website (the one of all the parts-- which can be enlarged by clicking) and I can barely make out what looks like a belly-pan... But maybe I'm just wanting it to be there :)

I do like the looks of the plane, though. Sort of Diabolotin-like.

What a difference the dragon scheme rocks compaired. It makes it look like a pro plane compaired to a ARF ARF ARF here boy.

I'm interested in picking one up. Tower says mid-august and chiefaircraft.com shows September.

So how much?

Anyone know much will it cost? Around $199?

The bottom is a checker pattern. I have one on order but you guys scare me with that one piece talk. A 65" wingspan would be hard to transport.

U CAN DO

I have one on order from my LHS. $180.00 and should be in late August early September.

The bottom is checker board. Don't know the colors. The wing is one piece with a bellypan. Hobby shop had some other pics of it in a flyer from GP.

The weight is a concern. I would really like to get it down under 6.5, however a one pound plus diet maybe difficult. It set up for 2 elevator servos which I like. Not too crazy about the vertical stab and the rudder, myself. Going to strap a 91 FX on it and see what it does. May have to experiment with motors on this one.

How much power do you think this plane will need? At between 7-7.5 lbs, I'm guessing that a Saito 91 4C won't be enough, what do you all think?

Got mine today....

LHS $180.....looks good.

Wing is one piece.....

I kinda like this plane but there are two cosmetic things I would change on it if I ever bought one.

1. Make an extension to the front of the fin/rudder so its larger and less steeply sloped. This would look way better.

2. Move the canopy aft a few inches so its fully over the wing. The way it is now in front of the wing just looks wrong. You would have to extend the top front of the fuse into the current cockpit area.

The beautiful thing about these modifications is that both areas are covered with the same dark blue monokote so any surgery would be easy recover with only one roll of covering.

What you guys think?

You are right on Flip. I agree, it would made it look better.

Now if we could only Do something with the name.

I think a Saito 100 would be perfect for this plane if the weight is true.

:D No problem there!

First of all you don't have to put the stickers on at all. But you could also cut off the "U-Can-" part and just use the "Do 3D". I think this is kinda clever because it's a play on the plane's unfortunate name, an advertisment for 3D flying, and possibly also a smart ass remark aimed at other non 3D flyers at the field, especially the ones who complain the most. Or how about Can-U-Do-3D? :D

I'd love to get one and make these changes but I can't quite afford another plane now.
