It seems like a nice plane but I would like to know how it performs 3D tricks with the magnum .51.

With an Irvine 53 it had plenty of power. It was about 5 lbs. I think it was good for sport and hovering but not that great for 3D IMO. I sold mine at our last swap meet for $80, assembled, just the frame.

I didn't like that the covering came off. Also the tail sufaces were not that big like Funtana or other 3D birds.

Yup- the covering is crap... They fly great but are similar to the SIG Somethin' Extra, not full on 3D capable---

I have flown several Magic Extras, most with 46FX and AX engines- They could pull out of a hover but barely... The Irvine-53 would have quite a bit more power-

I actually like my Hot Knife quite a bit for the cheapo price!

What would you recomend that can fly 3D but is also pretty cheap. Like $500.00 with everything but transmiter.

I would recommend a Funtana or Twist 3D. I'm sure there are many others, but I own both of those and I'm happy with their 3D capability.

I have an os ax 46 on mine with a ky mousse can tuned pipe and a 12.25x3.75 apc. it will pull out and up like something fierce. Will pull out with stock muffler minus baffle as well. Did not try with the baffle in however. One great thing about the os is I can start it every time with just a flick of the spinner with my fingers...bumps off the compression and fires right up. the only time I used a starter was the initial start to break it in. Anyway, will agree that its probably not the plane for 3D, however it is a excellent flying plane and does good aerobatics.

$500 is actually plenty. Try a profile like EF Edge 540T. But I heard they are backordered. There are other profiles that fly great too.

The Funtana is great but is really a hand full for a first 3D plane. They can do anything with the right pilot. They go in real fast if you're not careful. I almost crashed mine many many times but just kind of got lucky and saved it every time. Now it seems a lot easier to fly than it used to.

I think with $500 I'd get a UCanDo 46. Get a Saito 82 or a YS 63. Hitec servos (475 for ails & 635 for tail). They are very forgiving ARF's. Not as good as a profile for all out 3D but pretty good for a first 3D plane.

Another really good ARF is the Kangke fun 50. It's about $240 shipped and can do any 3D manuever. It's probably the best non-profile 3D and sport arf of it's size.

OK thanks! I think I can handle those planes. I'm 13 now and I've been flying for 1 1/2 years now and just moved up from a Mini Laser 3D with a hacker B20 15L. Its fun, but it won't 3D well, I learned how to hover though. I want something now that will hover about 3" above the ground. I don't really want the funtana because of the wing rocks. I really like the looks of the UCANDO 60. I like big planes now.
