Left Thrust??

A friend just bought a used Sukhoi (72"ws). It has never been flown and has never had an engine installed. The engine box has quite a bit of LEFT thrust.

Is there a reason for this? Or was it assembled incorrectly?

Thanks,

Mike

Something is wrong... ;) ...never heard of left thrust in a firewall

Maybe the builder was trying to be accurate in that the Russian engines in the full-scale Suk's rotate in the opposite direction that our American radials do.

Its probably right if the guy was going to use a motor that turned the other way........ :-(

Otherwise, its wrong.

Ughh. That's what we thought.

So other than being wrong, it's exactly right! LOL Although the information on the "scale" aspect is very interesting.

Actually doesn't look like it'll be too hard to correct.

Thanks all for the confirmation!

What size engine would your friend be putting in this beast? Is he going to try gas?

Only a fool would put a gasser in this plane. In fact, I don't think he has the guts to put a gas motor in this! :-)

If your gutsy yet foolish friend were to put a gasser in it, what size would he get? Any ideas? He probably wants to have gobs of power to 3D it with. Maybe the good folks here would be able to offer some advice on the best way to go.

FYI
I just finished reading this in my kit instructions.
" Two degrees of down thrust has been built into the design with no left or right thrust required"
Makes me think it was not a mistake for one reason or another.
Perhaps it is scale. :D
