EToc plane

Hey Andrew, just wondering, what do you think in your mind would be the ideal indoor ETOC design? Let me know what you think.

Steve,

I think for the ETOC if it is like last year in the confined area it will be all about a bipe. I hope we get some more area to fly these airplanes with more precision. I really am looking at getting a few Pattern style planes to fly. I think it is much more graceful to do a slow roll to the music then to just go out and bang sticks. I am going to be flying probably the Ikarus Yak 54 or the Ikarus F3A pattern plane. Still undecided on Variable pitch or not.

Josh keeps telling me about this variable pitch prop. Whats the hype with this?

RE: EToc plane

The variable pitch is a pretty cool unit to have. It is a tail section off of a eco 8 that has been fitted on a axi 2208/34. It is cool for the hovering nose down. or just the sudden stops in the air. I think that it is big because it is new. I was messing around with some a few weeks ago. They are great to use for going up and coming down slow but I dont think they fly as well for other areas of 3d as you have to pack 24 degrees of pitch in the range of your throttle so it makes the throttle pretty touchy.

Kyle,

I figure in the next few weeks Scott Foster will be selling his design. They are in the final stages of testing the production will began soon after. I am not sure who he will be distributing them threw but will be available soon.

Andrew, this old fart ( to a youngster like yourself) got a real chuckle about your comment that you couldn't fly on saturday because you had to take the ACT's and work, at least you know where your priorities are. I had the pleasure of seeing you fly at the ETOC and I've heard that you're a fine young man and a gentleman, keep up the hard work and good luck. One question.....do you always smile so much?

flyboy91 01-11-2005 09:38 PM

RE: EToc plane

RC,

Yea sometimes I wonder about my priority's but most of the time I am sure to get them straight.
On the question of smiling. Yes I always smile. If I am not smiling I am not having fun. This is a hobby and is suppose to be fun.

Your smart too, way to go Andrew. If you're ever in the Chicago area you'll have to let me know, there are a bunch of old timers at my field that would get a real kick out of watching you fly.

rc-sport,

Do you fly in the same club as Bob Satolino, Mike Mueller, and all those other pattern pilots? I planed to be there sometime in June for a pattern contest.

RE: EToc plane

I don't fly in the same club as Bob but I do know him. He came to my clubs meeting to do a talk about pattern flying. The club I fly at is just a bunch of sport fliers but Brian Johnson is one of our members, you competed with him at the Arseneau Invitational last May, remember the rain? Our field is much better than where Bob flies:). You'll have to stop by, us oldtimers would love to have you as a guest.
