Need a replacement plane........

Today i thought i could go from a hover to a rolling harrier, wrong, even worse- This was 35 ft up. So my Funtana 90 got a little closer to the earth......Well, i've been debating if I should go buy another Funtana or order one of those Extreme flight Yaks(68"ws). They both look like great planes, and i loved my Funtana. So my question is, how do these planes stack up against each other? Which one would be the better replacement?

From what I have heard, the Funtana and the Yak are in two different leagues. Get the Yak for sure:D

RE: Need a replacement plane........

Well for your sake IowaSilvia it fit cleanly in my compact car trunk....The only thing that wasnt completly crushed in was the right wing and the tail section. It took two trips with 3 people to bring back the pieces[>:]. I feel like an idiot for going that low and doing that. I'm giving the EF Yak a good look at, I like it but i dont like that big canopy....but who cares it flies great right? One question, could i fit in some precision aerobatics, practice some IMAC or is this soley a better 3D plane and also, how does it handle a little speed(not in excess of 3/4 throttle). I would like to fly a little fast on some maneuvers than I did with my Funtana.

one of the best planes you can go for is a Synergy 90 3D and the gear you have is perfect for it will do any 3d move and really good F3a

Now I am not expert on either plane but, I heard the EF 7AK, whilst 3Ding great won the AMA National Masters pattern comp, versus 2 METRE dedicated pattern planes, which speaks alot about its pattern

I seriously looking into the Yak now....I hope it slows down just like my funtana, but heck it does precision aerobatics! Alright!!

EF 68" Yak. Also theres one in the marketplace for $200.00 but he does not want to ship, its a needle in a haystack chance, but you may live close to the seller.
Sorry to hear about your FT 90.
Good luck!

RE: Need a replacement plane........

I just emailed the guy about the one in the marketplace, but i do like to get planes in the mail, assemble them myself, the only bad thing is that i dont know what motor he had(just for the sake of a pretty cowl, i hope it isnt all cut up). The one thing i like about this plane is the airfoiled horizontal stab and rudder. Also the fact that i can fly it in a IMAC routine for a little fun! At 329.99 its a little more than a FT 90 but I think, like my funtana, it will be worth every penny. One question, when I install my Y.S 1.10 will i cut a lot of cowl out or will it fit snug in there?

From what I have read on the forums the EF Yak is the way to go! I have a buddy with a funtanna 90 and he pretty much hates it he flys his UCD 60 all the time and the funtanna collects dust. Check out the vids on their website the EF Yak will slow to a crawl and the engine of choice is the YS 110. Good luck on your choice!!!!

The YS110 will fit nice. Look at the video that EF has on it. I just got back from flying mine today. Very nice plane!

All I can say is:
Lucky
Lucky
Lucky and
Lucky......
I think im going to take a break and order mine come the new year.(I just spent 350 on a nice Tensor 4D setup) I had $250 in a sealed envelope just for this situation--When I finally take it to the edge and need another plane once im took it past the edge.....So you say that the EF Yak is 260? Where? Thats sounds great!!!!!

RE: Need a replacement plane........

Nevermind thats the Edge for $260......I dont know much about that particular model so I'm sticking with the EF Yak for Now.( at least until i get the extra cash i need for the Yak.....At 16 i dont come across money laying around, and the parents absolutely hate model airplanes and that means, almost* every penny i have in these models comes from yours truely.....(that almost* was my Ys 1.10 last yea r for Christmas....)

The Edge is a Powerline Hobbies Edge 540 23%. It isn't $260 either. It is $189.00. If you payed 260 for it you got ripped off. Very nice plane though.

RE: Need a replacement plane........

Guess I'll go against the grain here. I've owned the EF 68" yak, and flown the Funtana 90 enough times to comment on it, I sometimes wonder if others making recommendations have done the same? Anyway, they're both great 3D planes. If you're looking for a huge difference going to the EF yak I think you'll be disappointed. In my opinion the difference in price doesn't reflect the difference in the way they fly. The funtana is a nice bang for the buck. After some 40 flights on my yak, I'd question the airframes durability and longevity after 100+ flights as very thin wood used combined with the foam construction isn't as durable as solid wood planes, IMO. On the other hand the same funtana I put a few flights on blew up in mid air from the flutter issue, I've heard that problem has been fixed though.
