3d Simulator?

Which is a better 3d simulator Ikarus or Great Planes G3? Is there another? Any recommendations would be great.

whats wrong with real flight g3. I just know g3 you need a powerful computer and I have that. I love my g3.

I have both and Aero Fly Pro or Pro Deluxe is without a doubt hands down the best. My trainer came with nexstar program and it is ok for nomal flight but for 3D go with Aero fly.

The software that comes with nexstar is G2 and is not meant for 3D. I am also trying to make a decision.

I've tried G2.. I bought AFP.. Don't have AFP deluxe or G3... If I
had the money to upgrade to AFP deluxe or get G3.. I'd get AFPD
But just just me....

Without any doubt aerofly professional and the deluxe beat realflight by light years..first the cost for afp was under 120 bucks..I just transferred my G2 controller over to afp and it works fine!!last night I finished downloading about 50 add on planes ...FREE!.. try that with realflight ..the selection of 3D is awesome.the physics with aerofly are undoubtedly the very best..new planes(free are coming online all the time) and yes helis too I downloaded over a dozen ..warbirds add on scenery you cant compare realflight with aerofly IMHO realflight just has better marketing but thats all changing..and if you dont think the planes are fun go to the web site rc sim.de and see for yourself and then if you owned a g2 you will call omp and order afp fast..

I can hover already and am practicing rolling circles.. IKARUS is the BEST!

AFPD is way better than real flight for 3D, no contest. The physics arent even comparable from on to the other. Even the original AFP is WAY better than realflight. Realflight is ok when you need the plane to generally perform but if you need really accurate physics that will translate directly to a real scale 3D plane AFPD is awesome. I hear reflex is real good too, but supposedly it takes forever to load and you have limited plane and scene choices. And it cost over $200 just for the program, AFPD delivered with the connector to fit your transmitter is about $180.

12 of 14 for Ikarus! Nice. It's cheaper too. I think that makes up my mind. Thanks so much!

Does anyone actually have experience with G3 and aerofly or reflex? I've flown G2 lots but no experience with any of the others. It'd be nice to hear from someone with experience on more than just one sim.

RE: 3d Simulator?

I've flown G3 for about 2 months now, G2 for 2 years, AFP for over a year, XTR for a few months, and AFP Deluxe for a couple days.

I think the trend is STILL that AFP (deluxe OR standard, I can't really tell the diff) simulates larger models better, but G2 or G3 actually is better for smaller ones (40 to 90 size).

G3 is vastly improved 3D over G2. I'll never fly G2 again.

XTR had a very bad physics problem on my machine, but I don't think it's AS noticeable with faster systems. That by itself bothers me, as I'd rather see the frame rate slow down rather than slowing down my control inputs. I totally lost the "connected" feeling with XTR. Your mileage may vary.

Believe it or not, I think G3 makes me a better pilot than AFPD. Going from G3 to AFPD is easy. I look like a pro. When I go the other way, I have to take the time to re-learn how each plane "snaps" (as do smaller planes in real life).

Also, I kinda like the eye candy of G3 better than AFPD. The photorealistic postcard stuff wears on me after a while. Plus, it's not as tailorable, or at least I haven't found out how to get rid of all the tents and telephone poles that clutter up AFPD. With G3, I can get rid of any bush I want, or move it someplace else. The smoke is also much better on G3 than AFPD.

Oh, my current system is a 1.8 GHz P4, with 384K RAM, and a GeForce 6 "Verto" graphics card. I did upgrade from a Geforce 3, and that made all the difference.

I flew G2 for a little and the other day got my hands on Aerofly Pro at my buddies house. Aerofly pro is awesome and I probably spent 5 hours just messing around with the various planes, totally awesome and I might have to buy Deluxe now.

There are videos on each manufac website. The videos clearly show the physical attributes too.

BE AWARE! With Aero Fly, you MUST have Open GL. I have Dell with internal graphics. Aero Fly will not work!
