Best Engine for U Can Do 60 ?
Will the Super Tigre G-90 provide enough power for the UCD 60 to 3D with? How about the Evolution 100?
Thanks |

The ST G-90 has tons of torq and can swing large props.. However ditch the stock muffler as its very heavy and looks terrible... Buy yourself a Bisson Pitts Muffler, its lighter and some say can add 1 lb of thrust!
I've heard some bad and some good things about the Evo. line... Mostly bad... Also try out that Saito 1.2! |

Check out the performance w/ YS 110 FZ
http://www.pedrofrigola.com/UCD3D&Stinger.wmv I have tried several engines on my UCD3D 60: Magnum 91 2-stroke w/ APC 15x4W: good power, but the throttle response is not good for 3D Saito 91 w/ APC 15x4W: OK throttle response, just enough power to pull out of hover, but couldn't get out of trouble quickly enough, hence resulting in a crash and broke the wing. Saito 100 w/ APC 15x4W: good throttle resopnse and good power. Plane flies very light w/ this setup, but idle surges due to high fuel tank and low carb position. Not sure why this wasn't a problem w/ Saito 91. Prolonged idle followed by throttle-up may quit, which happened to me when I entered a 5-ft wall after a long idle glide, plane went up and went down the same path, and remained the path 'til it meets the ground. Broke the fuselage. YS 110 w/ APC 16x6: great power, awesome acceleration, enough to do tight KE loops. Only w/ this engine do I dare doing eye-level hovering. I did break the rudder like this just this week. Enya 155R w/ APC 17x6: great power, response is so-so, plane flies heavy, and idles too fast to have a manageable taxi. So depending on what you want to do. Saito 100 will fly it very well for the most part. Just mount the engine upright. For all-out low 3D, go for YS 110. |

you dont have to mount the saito 100 upright, you just need to get a cline regulator and it wont flood or idle irrational. just needs a little pressure in the tank and a little regulation.

RE: Best Engine for U Can Do 60 ?
I think it's cheaper to mount it upright. Also get the fuel away from the tail servos.

RE: Best Engine for U Can Do 60 ?
There is enough room upfront to drop the tank 5/8ths of an inch. Don't know if its a cure, but should help. My Cline on a Saito 100 was a mess. It worked good, but fuel everywhere. YS 110 FZ, chicks dig em. Joe

RE: Best Engine for U Can Do 60 ?
I've flown one on both a super tigre 90 and an OS 91 SurpassII. There is no contest between these two engines, the OS wins hands down. If you use a Super Tigre make sure that you do not mount it upside down. I've personally used three different ST-90's upside down and all they do is flood out, and constantly drip fuel while sitting. I can get them to fly, but not as reliable as I would like. The OS is great mounted any way you choose. I too am a fan of the YS 110 or 120. If you can practice throttle management, you can never be over powered. And the YS throttle response is better than any mentioned so far in this thread.
