CF Pushrod Ends
1 Attachment(s)
I got these neat pushrod ends from ATS Mayneline here in the UK, which are meant to be epoxied onto the end of your 5.5mm carbon tube pushrod. They are a brass housing with M3 bolt secured with a decent ball link end.
Does anyone know of similar accessories for a smaller diameter pushrod? I want to make small pushrods up in this way - maybe 4mm carbon. Thanks, Al |

CF Rods
Us Heli Guys use those all the time.
Here is a link to one set. I think you can find them Under the MFG of Quick UK. http://www.ronlund.com/Merchant2/mer...de=TT+Upgrades Good Luck, Phil (Mesa, AZ) |

Try Pete Tindals.
I got a load from him and they are fairly good..... I think they're smaller .... can't think what size they are though.... probably 5 something though. Don't be conned by Pete into buying 3D servo arms...... they're too big for the servo heads (ie they slip!!) |

do you have to use a sleve on the CF push rods?I got some sets from Central and they don't have sleves.A friend told me to use aluminum tubing from the LHS,but I kinda like the way it looks without it.

Sleeves are good
Hi Mike,
I've made a lot of these for helicopters and some for planes. The sleeves are a very good idea. The short reason is that the ends will splay out under an impact or stress that bows the rod. The aluminum sleeve epoxied on the end will keep that from happening. Cut the aluminum piece the same length as the insert end of the threaded piece. You can always either anodize or paint the sleeves. I use a tubing cutter, and only debur one end. Slip the debured end over the tube after the threaded piece is glued in place. This makes a real nice "one piece" look. Another way to support the end is to wrap thread around the end forming a sleeve then using CyA on the thread. While not quite as strong as the aluminum sleeve it will work. Make sure you rough up the inside of the CF tube then clean it out with alcohol to get a good glue joint. HTH, Scott H. |
