RE: problem in UCD 46 PLEEZ help

I could be a CG problem. With my UCD46, it's tail heavy with a Saito 72, and just a tad nose heavy with a Saito 91. Also, the torque rolls are very slow on my UCD46 (without cheating with ailerons)... I'm not 100% on this, but I think it's possible to be too tail heavy. I have a Saito 91 on my UCD46.

RE: problem in UCD 46 PLEEZ help

First of all there are a couple of questions that need to be answered. What engine are you running and what size prop is on it. In my experience I have not run into a plane no matter where the CG is that wont torque. Some faster than others and that has a lot to do with engine type/size and prop size. Having the CG off only makes it more or less difficult to get the plane in its "swet spot". Once there it should start to TR but again it may be slow or fast depending on how long you can keep it in the spot and your engine and prop size.

UCD will hover fine at rcomended CG, even a little nose heavy,, I would move it around to where you find you like it best..

As stated above different props act different, you can expirement with them also to find whats best for your taste

Heres a sugestion try a 13x4W (wide prop) just might give you the torque you need. But for all pratical circumstanses you have a decent set up the 4 pitch may not have a lot of bite so it will slow your TR down making them really sluggish to start even hesitant to start. But all I can say is with changing the prop to a wide you need to be certain that your plane is in its "sweet spot" meaning pretty verticle and sustained in that verticle position. Hope this helps.

my saito .72/14x4 equipped ucd46 torque rolls fine. I haven't intentionally done anything to the cg, other then moving the battery as far back in the equipment compartment as I could, and have added a fair amount of glue/fiberglass to the tail (in repairs)

you dont want to add any weight to the plane.. just move battery around untill cg is right where you want it.. Unfortunately mine required me to cut a hatch in the bottom of the fuse about 4" back from wing ... save the lead for you glider;)
