Is there anyone ever hovering his GP Christen Eagle? If yes, what engine and prop? What is the weight of the plane?

Put me on that list for the hovering GP Christen Eagle II -- certainly won't be mine.

I'm thinking that besides needing a LIGHT-WEIGHT 50-60cc motor you may have problems because of the lack of significant-sized tail control surfaces. This is a heavy stubby bi-plane designed for conventional aerobatics -- it is definitely not Chip Hyde's Ultimate.

I had one with a fpe 3.2 that torque rolled great. Couldnt do a conventional hover cause the ailerons were to far out to stop the roll. That was about the extent of its 3-D capabilities.

Thank you all for replies. I am going to order this beautiful bird from TowerHobbies and put a DA-50 in it. Hope the weight under 18 lbs.

Hey I have been meaning to talk to you for a while. I fly at Piedmont here in Fayetteville. Anyways I am selling off a lot of my stuff to start new projects. One includes the Christen Eagle, and giving it some hover ability. I plan on using the most powerful engine I can afford, Lithium batters, making the airframe as light as possible, use foam tires, carbon fiber gear, lightest radio gear as possible. Either that or get the Skyshark Eagle. I am thinking if I double bevel as much as possible, give it huge amount of throws and most important power power power it should at least hover. Just my thoughts. Let me know how yours comes along!
