RE: QQ Yak

Joe,

I have flown the 32% yak of quiques and must say it is a great flying airplane. I got the chance to fly it in Dayton this year. It 3ds great and flys precision just as well. I feel quique is one of the best designers around today that is why I am going to fly his 37% this year in competition. If you have any more questions please feel free to ask.

RE: QQ Yak

Hello, since you have flown the 32%, do you think a single 5955 would be enough power on the rudder @ 6V?

Thanks,
Chris Sells

RE: QQ Yak

Chris,

I think a single would fly it but not have the authority that the airplane is intended to have. My 40% has 4 8611's and the rudder is crazy. If anything I would go with 2 5955's or 1 5735.

OK, thanks

RE: QQ Yak

I'm kinda confused:D, you said 2 5955's which have 333 oz in, or 1 5735 which have about 264 oz in. could you please explain why you would use 1 5735 or 2 5955?

Thanks,

flyboy91 04-13-2005 11:14 AM

RE: QQ Yak

Chris,

The reason I said to use 1 5735 as it has much bigger gears in it. You will put a lot of stress on a standard size servo and the gears will give out very easy. With a bigger servo like the 5735 you have more area to spread the load. It is the same reason many use 4 5945's and only 2 5735's for the rudder of a 40% airplane. I hope this made sense. If you have anything else please let me know.

RE: QQ Yak

I see:D! that does make sence. So it isnt just torque, but gear strength that i need to think about.

Thanks,

Exactly.

RE: QQ Yak

I am just full of questions about this thing:D. I am excited to get it! So are the ailerons stiff enough to use one 8611 on the inboard?

Thanks,

flyboy91 04-13-2005 09:40 PM

RE: QQ Yak

Chris,

I do not feel that 1 would be enough. The ailerons are cut out with bays and you will have to much flexing. Also with only 1 servo it will be more load and you will gain more servo slop which could cause fludder.

Has Anyone Ever Flew The QQ 72" Yak 54 From Aero-Works? If So How Does It Fly And What Engine Are You Using. I Am Thinking Of Gettin One To Work On 3D And Compete In IMAC With It.
Thanks.

flyboy91 04-24-2005 09:59 PM

RE: QQ Yak

I have a 72" yak and I absolutely love it. It is a great plane for imac and 3d. The 3d of the airplane will be a little different to get used to as the airplane is quick. I really like the way it flys though. If you have any more questions please let me know.

RE: QQ Yak

Andrew, if you have a DA in your 32%, do you know what type of headers I would need to get for cannister mufflers, and what cannisters are best?

Thanks,

flyboy91 05-03-2005 08:29 PM

RE: QQ Yak

Chris,

I do have a DA in my plane. I actually have the airplane and it is done. Should fly on Friday. I have the 50 drop flex headers from da along with the MTW long cannisters. I will try and get some pictures tonight of the airplane and cans.

Thanks alot, I think I will order those then. Also, what length of standoffs did you have to use?

Thank You,

Chris,

We used 2 of the 1/2 inch SWB ones that come with his mounts. Dave had a couple extras at home and he used them. I did not get a chance to get pictures but will tomorrow.

OK Andrew,i heard you flew the 32% Yak..and you were impressed with it....how about the skinny on the products you used to complete the plane..also anything you would change if you built another one?

RE: QQ Yak

I have infact flown the airplane and completely fell in love with it. I think it is the best flying airplane I have ever flown. I actually bought the dubro package from Wayne and Quique and finished it off with that which uses the Dubro control horns, dubro wheels, I then used hanger 9 titanuim turnbuckles, hanger 9 ball links. The servos were all 8611's (8 of them) all around with 4 matchboxs, Da100 mtw cans 50mm drop flex headers, 1 fromeco 4800mah driving the servos and a fromeco 2400mah on ignition all using there adjustable regulators. If you guys have any more questions please feel free to shoot away.
