Setup. On my first 3D

Some setup advice please.

I have a WM Groovey 90 3D with a ASP FS120AR.

Now this is my first 3D and I am fully aware that the plane is WAY more capable than me, so.

Setup. With the 120 she comes out slightly nose heavy, CG is 150mm thats 10mm forward of the recomendation of 160 mm.(I have not mooved anything as yet)
Wing incidence I have set at +.5deg (I thought this would help at lower speeds, landing especialy)
Horizontal stabliser is set at 0deg.
The prop I am using at the moment is a wood 15x8. My choice is limited as I am waiting for the model shop I use to get a delivery. I have ordered 16x4 and 16x6.
I have set my contro throws at minimum to start.

She will fly on this setup, but I don't know what to expect.
Any advice would be welcome, I can change enything if required.
What change can I expect from the bigger prop size.

RE: Advice please. On my first 3D

beautyfull plane..

i havent flown that plane or seen one fly, but i recomend u to fly at the recomended forward cg 1st... no need to put the control trows at minimum, ull be in trouble if u need more in flight!!!

the other props will make the plane fly slower, when cut throttle it will be like applying brakes, but throttle response will be better, and also vertical performance, rpm may be little hi, but its ok as long as u r happy with the flight performance...

well, thats all my opinion, be safe and have fun!!!

Thank's FKY,

I am just a little bit concerned about the recomended throws. I don't have expo on my radio gear so I am worried that it may be ultra sensative around neutral on the gimbals.

RE: Setup. On my first 3D

hi, glad i could be at help...

well, if the instruction manual gives u low and hi rates, then the low rates will be fine, if it doesnt give u low rates, then make it as low as u want, but just in case use dual rates and make the hi rates a little bit more sensitive... control trows are not that important...

but a forward recomended cg may be a lot of help to begin with...

just go out there and fly, enjoy and i think that by the end of the day, u may will had increased the control trows of low rates already...

i set my low rates as hi as i still feel confortable for landing or doing presicion pattern stuff.. on hi rates i have it at max...
for example in my funtana i use 40 degrees in elev in hi rates, but in low, im at 25 degrees , thats a lot for low rates... everyone will have diferent setting depending on how confortable u feel....

have fun..

Pretty much.
If you have had a close call with the big man, then you tend to appreciate life a little more.

And yes if that feeling turns into rc flight, fantastic:D:D:D
