I BOUGHT A NEW HARRIER 90 AND I WAS WONDERING WHAT ENGINE FOR IT. I HAVE ON MIND A YS 110 OR A SAITO 100 OR 120? ANY HELP?

The Saito 100 is plenty of engine for the Harrier. It would be ballistic with the 110 and the 120 would be to heavy

From experience, both the ASP 91 2 stroke and the MVVS 91 work well.

Would an OS 1.08 be too heavy?

I used to have an O.S. 91 FS on mine I am gonna try it with an O.S.91FX tommorow. I will let you know how it does, the 91 four stoke didn't seem to have enough power and I got a good deal on the 2 stroke so we will see!

I think the 108 would be good. It's not too heavy and you have plenty of room to move the battery around for balance.

At a guess I would think a 16 x 4 Wideblade would be the prop to try, perhaps going up to 17 x 4W if the revs are too high.

I think a 91 twostroke is spot-on for this model - I used the MVVS 91 because it is very light, lighter than many 61s, and it produces loads of low-down power.

The 91FX does great 15X4W and the thing is ballistic I think it is all the motor I would want in a 2 stroke. Otherwise it would be a YS110 4 stroke.

i found that on a mate harrier the power was terrible on the 91fx standard scilencer and a cline on 10%, what prop do you all use? he uses a 15x4w APC

MVVS 91 with 16 x 4 Wideblade or ASP 91 15 x 4 W. Good performance on both.

I'm going to put a YS 110 on mine...with any luck i'll hav it in the air by the end of the week and if not , next week

My YS110 in my F90 will turn an APC 16x6 at 9,750 RPM with Cool Power 30% heli fuel ... not bad huh? Might get about 9,300 RPM with a 17x6 even ... hehehe

I am also running an APC 15X4W on Byron 20 - 20 YS blend. It has plenty of pull out and the motor has only had 2 tanks through it.

I got 9900 on APC 16x6 with the new Wildcat Youngblood 30% fuel. You should give it a try.

i think i'll go for the ys-110 i want lots of power for coming out of a hover not just enough tan the 100 may give me.

any one try with a ys140?:D

110 is all you need MAX to keep weight at around 8lbs 2 oz.. i have flown ADDICTS plane with the 91FX..I was very suprised by the perfomance it did everything i could throw at it and alot of things my U-Can-Do wont with the 91FX.i think it flies fine with it . My U-can-do weighs only 3 oz more than his harrier with a 110YS. the YS does quite a bit more power though. the harrier blows my U-Can_do away perfomance wise in 3d. now i want one but i only have 1 YS 110.. wish i had a truck load of them but they are always backordered[:@]

i saw some nice deals on ys's 120, i know they are discontinued but could it be worth it?
how do you compare it with the 110

:)seanychen, I read with interest your post about Youngblood fuel getting you a couple of hundred more RPM over Cool Power. Both fuels are 30% nitro and oil content. Why would the Youngblood fuel give more power? Where do you get the Youngblood fuel? Thanks for your comments.

Youngblood mix has 23% low-smoke synthetic. I suspect it's the new Klotz Helo-glow synthetic oil, which was developed jointly by Curtis Youngblood and Klotz :eek::eek:

I got a 4-gallon case of the 30% Youngblood mix @ Toledo show, right after it's released. It was $16 per gallon, and I now regret that I didn't get more, much more. Now I am liking it better than the $24 Cool Power 30% Heli fuel.

:)Did you have to retune your engine with the Youngblood fuel? Sounds like this may be promising. But, my LHS has never even heard of this fuel. I'm not sure where to buy it.

Seany - I got a peak RPM of 10,200 on the Cool Power 30% with the APC 16x6 and no muffler.

Raniery - I would go for the YS140

No muffler? Mine figure is with stock muffler w/o internal baffle. I think the stock muffler reduces power a little, even with the baffle removed. I do think 9900 is a little high to be revving a YS this size. I am going to try a Bambula 16x6 to see if I can get the rpm down while getting more thrust.

I think YS 140 is too much for this 60" bird. I think the YS 110 is adequately over-powering this bird. But then, I haven't even built my Harrier 3D; I'm only using UCD3D 60 as a comparison. In my opinion, things get to a point when the additional power does not justifiably benefit the extra weight, fuel consumption, and vibration, especially for 3D.

Seany - I am not too happy with having to run so rich ... gonna look for a 17x6 for the YS110. Hope I can find one, for this part of the world its an odd size. You guys there are lucky!

im using an os 91 it is great for this plane im only using a 14/6 power prop this is plenty of power i think u guys are going to large with your props.
