Learning 3D
 

I have been flying for a couple of years and have been progressing along from trainers to low wing than precision flying and now I would like to move on to 3D. I am now flying Great Planes 80" wing span Patty Extra with a 50cc engine. I have progress to Knife Edge, Snaps, Tumble, 4 point rolls and Standard Spins.

I have found that my Realflight G2 simulator has help me on these but for 3D I do not think the G2 is good enough. What simulator would you recommend I get to practice Hover, High Alpha Knife Edge, Blender, Waterfall, Flat Spins and elevators?

I am also thinking of moving up to the 97" wing span Edge 540 by Hanger 9 using a zenoah 80 twin. Do you think this is a good plane for 3D? Do you think my Great Planes Patty is good enough to do 3D?

Aerofly Pro Deluxe (AFPD) is very good. Reflex XTR is another good one.

Is G3 not as good for 3D flying? I can get G3 at my local hobby shop... but the rest I would have to order. Than again I do want to get the one with the best flight model

You want to order AFPD...you want to order AFPD....you want to order AFPD....it's all a subliminal thing you see? I didn't actually say it! It was just something that came through the speakers of your pc..like a virus type of thing. Just happens I dunno why! G3 is a good simulator but I didn't like it for 3D flying with aeroplanes. My LHS still has it running and we play with it once in a while and those times I really long to get home to my AFPD.

When i used G2 it felt like using a Nintendo, when i used G3 it felt like using an Xbox, when i used AFPD it felt like flying :D

Dont short yourself the reflex experience. Stunning graphics more realistic sceneries then AFPD. Flight characteristics between the 2 are identical for the planes and the helis in Reflex are a touch more realistic than AFPD. Pros and cons... AFPD Gives you game commander TX and Reflex doesnt. AFPD Is a thouch cheaper. Both need high end video cards and processor speed needs to be fast. Both will increase your 3D flying skill exponentially. IMO Stay away from G3. IMO IMO !!! just so I dont get bashed.
