zdz 40, what plane?

It is a perfect match for the Dave Patrick Extra.

I have about 30 flights on mine. Unlimited with a 20x10 prop.

Terry W. How much does yours weigh?

Thanks,

WOOD

P.S. Do you hover with it?

RE: zdz 40, what plane?

That was a long time ago and I don't own the plane anymore but I was told it weighed 16 pounds from the guy who bought it. Quite heavy for the DP Extra but was still unlimited with the 40 on it. It may be a 40 but its a powerful one.

I didn't hover much with it when I had it cuz I wasn't really good enough. It's not a 3D machine at that weight anyway. If you could get one of DPs new kits and keep the weight down to 14 then you'd be talkin.

RE: zdz 40, what plane?

Maybe something like the Lanier 81" Cap 232 at around 14 or 15 lbs. Should at least be good for IMAC.

You'll notice that the link works fine now. The link in post #5 was written in October 2002. Perhaps in the old-new RCU switch the "****" was transferred over.

RE: zdz 40, what plane?

Hi Terry,

How are things? Did you get your Extra flying ? I saw your comment about unlimited vertical with the DP Extra and the ZDZ. It must have been behaving differently for you because I certainly don't have the power to hover and vertical uplines die at about 300 ft. I think I'm going to sell it next year RTF . I have a DA 50 coming but haven't decided what kit/ARF I'll buy. Either way , I hope to keep it light. The thing should rock !
I'm heading out to a big jet event in the States tomorrow called Superman. Should be fun !

Hi Marc! I have a DP extra, gotta have a 50cc on it! I agree with you on the 40. Put that DA50 on it,youll be smiling!

RE: zdz 40, what plane?

Marc,

Hmmm...I must have fond memories of the Extra or something. I don't remember it stopping at any altitude. At any rate the 50 will certainly put out more power than the 40. I haven't finished the big extra yet...still have to do paint. I've been sort of caught up with fun fly's for the summer. The power to weight on them is just insane...lots of fun. Have a good time at your jet rally.
