EF YAK 54 Substitute
Hi all,
I was planning to get an EF YAK 54 for my OS-120 Pump but there's lack of availability in Europe. I'm thinking of the Fliton Infinity 90 as a substitute for my OS 120. Do you think this combo is ok? This is mainly a pattern plane but will it be able to 3D like the Jumping Jack or the Quiet Storm? Also I'm thinking of not using the OS-120 at all and go for the Fliton Extra Freestyle. What are your comments for this plane? What engine would you recommend for good 3D performance, I have the Saito 82,91 or 100 in mind... I would like one of the above for both pattern practice and 3D flying, which is one is most suitable you think for the ittended use? Thanks and regards, Nick |
RE: EF YAK 54 Substitute
Quite simple really, there is no substitute for the EF Yak. You'll find it well worth waiting for, so get yourself on the waiting list. ;)

RE: EF YAK 54 Substitute
Well I can not wait for too long, I'm planning to participate in a local pattern contest in September so I need a plane as soon as possible.
I'm really looking for something that is able to fly 3D and pattern at a descent level. I'm pretty sure that both Fliton models will fly very well, if I judge from my Jumping Jack... |
RE: EF YAK 54 Substitute
Nick, trust me on this one, the yak is worth every second of the wait! Alsdo, check your PM box

RE: EF YAK 54 Substitute
Is there a time estmation of the new shipment's arrival?
|
RE: EF YAK 54 Substitute
Well, it's not worth the wait, if they never get here. I'm not sure how long too long is for most folks, but a month and a half ago I was all set to get this and ended up not wanting to waste the whole summer waiting.
Don't get me wrong, it's a killer product, I have seen them up up close and personal and I think they are exceptional. But when you click on teh products page and every single thing they have for sale in the plane department is "temporarily sold out" that gets pretty frustrating. And it's been that way for quite awhile. It's good to be in demand, it's better to fullfill that demand. |
RE: EF YAK 54 Substitute
I just ordered a Fliton 300. I have the Yak also and really like it. The Fliton looks like the best thing going in that size airplane. I picked it up because it was small enough to make it into my car with the YAk. I am going to power it with the SA100.

Nick, what happened to the first?

RE: EF YAK 54 Substitute
Well Ian, I never had a YAK I was planning to get one at Christmas time but I joined the Greek Navy[>:] and I thought it wouldn't worth it...no time you see.
Now, after nearly six months there's some time to build and fly hopefully, I have never flown the YAK but it seems according to what I read and see (videos) to be probably the best flying machine in the 90-120 class ever produced. GPSpacewalker, this sounds a good combo. I've read some very good comments about the Fliton Extra 300. Have you seen it flying? It seems to be the equivalent of the EF YAK in the 50-70 size category. Would you agree? Brithish guys, I don't want to confuse you but what do you thing of the Freestyle Rush or may be the Groove? |

Nick, wrong Nick:)

ORIGINAL: Ian.W Nick, what happened to the first? So well, I want a second :D Though I plan to do it as an electric conversion this time, as it seems an ideal choice for it (light airframe, easy access through canopy etc) |
