I need help with dual elevator servos??
 

Hello,
I need help with dual elevator servos what radio will handle them ??It is in a funtana 90 ! I have a JR xp6102 also!!

I bought a Hitec eclipse 7 and found out it would not!!!!
I wanred to run them in 2 seperate channels!!

I'm not an expert at this but I have a Futaba 7C with 7 channel Futaba receivers in 2 different airplanes. UCD and Funtana 90. I'm running them on channels 1 and 6. This combo seems to work fine.

Your E-7 will run a dual elevator system without a problem, it just can not do it on separate channels. You will either have to get a servo reversing Y harness, or a reversed servo. I prefer the latter as reversing Y harnesses can sometimes be a source of difficulty. JR sells reversed servos for some applications. I have Hitec service reverse mine for me and the cost is quite reasonable. I can not advise further on Futaba or Airtronics. It really is easy to do yourself, but for the few dollars that Hitec service charges me it does not effect the warranty. To me that is worth the cost:D.

7C will not do dual elevator servos. You can make a Pmix but only the master servo will trim. You are talking about using channel 1 & 6 as the Flaperon Mix. ( dual aileron )

I just used a y-harness w/ servo reverser I ordered from Tower Hobbies. It was cheap and works just fine in my Giant Stinger.

Explain what you mean by set up? I have a separate connector from each servo to each channel of the receiver then my transmitter is programed to operate as such.

JR 10X has dual elevator mix using the elevator and AUX3 channels and they track perfectly.

I have a Futaba 7C, and I run a Y connector to 2 digital servos and I dont know why, Mine trims both servos, while my friend with a similar set up does not.

The 8103 will do it. I think the 8103 is the base model for mixing it properly in the radio.

As you said the 6102 won't do it. I have a 652 and it will work on a PMix, but only the master servo responds to the trim inputs. The slave just sits there.

PLEASE don't use a reversing Y-harness. They work okay for a trainer or mild sport flying--but if you want any kind of precision--get a JR Matchbox or the Futaba mixer.

Here's why a reversing Y-harness doesn't work perfectly:

All servos rotate different amounts in the opposite directions.

For example:
Any given servo from a cheap GWS nano servo up to the best digitals will ALWAYS rotate more in one direction than the other direction.

For arguments sake--lets say a Hitec 475 Standard BB servo will rotate 60 degrees clockwise and 68 degrees counter-clockwise. This applies to ALL servos. No servo will rotate the same amount in BOTH directions--in the stock configuration. YES, you can use a Matchbox or a radio---as we are discussing here--to make it work the same amount in both directions.

But, I'm talking about using any STOCK servo with a reversing Y-harness.

When you stack the 2 elevator servos in the tail of the fuse- and use a reversing Y-harness--you will get differential throws in the 2 elevators.

The reason is that the LEFT servo rotates 60 degrees when you pull up elevator--and the RIGHT servo is reversed, so it moves 68 degrees on up elevator input.

Opposite thing happens when you put in down elevator input. The RIGHT servo travels 6o degrees down and the LEFT servo moves 68 degrees down.

So, you pull up and the plane corkscrews to the right and when you push down elevator, the plane corkscrews to the left.

Yes, there are ways to whack around with the linkages to get it CLOSE in this situation. But, you'll never get it perfect. There will always be tracking problems with the plane.

The JR Matchbox has come down in price. I think I saw a 2-pack for around $105 recently.

The 8103 has a "trim include" function when you run a Pmix on seperate channels. That will make both servos respond to the trim inputs. It also allows you to set endpoint travel and center on each servo.

Are you kidding me, I have a 6102 and plugged each elevator servo in a different channel and have no problems what so ever. I just put it in one of the four mixes, elevator master and somthing like channel six which was like aux1 or wm I really cann't remember which one. It was easy, just do negatives for the slave channel and positives for the master, that reverses the other servo, or the other way around, whicheverway your servo's are pointing, it is wasy. Who cares if the trim only works for the master. get them centered and then land once or twice to get it flying level and you are alright for the resst of eternity!!!!!:D

of course I am going to buy a pcm JR 8310 or whatever the heck the number is behind it so I can do some spoileron mixing and smoke on my 30%yak that I am building.

Use your 6102, it's a great little radio. Use channels 3 and 5 or 6. I would probably use 6 for flaperons/spoilers and 5 for dual elevator. Use mix 4, the trim mix. There is a setting somewhere in your radio that allows you to turn off the gear switch so it won't accidently change your mix. You need to set this. See page 24 in the manual.

Set the reversing for both channels.
Set the sub trim for centering for both.
Hold full control and set the end point travel adjust on both sides.
Set the mix to ON all the time.

Should take you all of a couple of minutes after you get the servos plugged in.

Then you can go back and set dual rates & expo.

You are right. I stand to be corrected. I have channel 1 & 6 set up for flaperons and a y connector to the elevator servos. Sorry if I misled anyone.
