Most Stable 3d Ship??? Yak, Edge, Extra ???
 

HI, does anyone have an opinion on a 3d airplane, in the 80" range, with the least bad characteristics? Have flown the extra's and like them a lot but the Yak 54 has kinda caught my eye as well as possibly the edge. Just fishing for opinions..

Extreme Flight YAK54 ... 87" but <16 lbs with a DA50 ... 3D to your heart's content. www.extremeflightrc.com ... only problem is that they are out of stock at present.

But there is also the TOC Aviation Yak, the QQ Yak, the BME Yak and the Aerotech Yak. They are all within 40 inch of wing area, all weigh in the 15.5 to 16.5 pound range and all have SIMILAR design characteristics. The TOC and EF Yaks cost about 100 bucks more than the others, but I would bet that they all had very similar flying characteristics.

Too bad there all out of stock except for the TOC.
The BME 1st. shipment should arrive 8/3 but are all reserved. Second shipment will arrive in about 3-4 weeks.

Here is a secret:
The one with lowest wing loading (same wing areas) will be easiest to handle
All of these have similar setup/s size fuselage etc..
wing loading and power loading are everything
the rest is all whimsy

Well, gee, golly, I did not know that a 3d airplane was stable. They aren't supposed to be stable.
My money too is on the new QQ and would wait on that.

"most stable" doesn't imply that they are very stable airplanes. Rather which is more stable, relative to the others.

Ok, most stable was probly not the right choice of words. I guess what I'm getting at is what has the fewest bad tendancies. What is the QQ yak I keep seeing?? I've seen the BME, Aerotech and Toc but not the QQ.

The above reply from dick Hanson is the best answer you're going to get unless someone can give a direct comparison between the planes.

Any of the higher end line of planes (EF, QQ, Composite-arf, etc.) are fine there are differences in the looks and a few in the way they fly but unless you are a TOC winner your not going to know the difference. Thats why you see a variety of manufactuers planes being flown in competition if there was one BEST plane then everyone would fly it.

HI Paul, I fly at the NCRC Hawks and our field is on State St., east of Greentown if you remember where that is. The great thing about our area is I have about 5 flying field within a half hour drive!!! NCRC just happens to be the closest... Bet that year round flying is hard to take out there!!!

Im waiting for either the EF or the QQ Yak..If the EF Yaks ever come in Im hoping to get an all white one but there doesnt seem to be any delivery date in the near future..The only thing about the QQ Yak that worries me is that its the first run on that particular plane..we all know what happens on the first runs..usually some type of problem..

Have there been any major problems with the other QQ Yaks that would make you think that the 85 would have issues?? I too have been waiting for the EF 87" Yak. Currently flying the EF 68". Like you said there is no idea when EF will take delivery. Bummer.

Sorry If It sounded like I said QQ had problems..thats not what I meant...It just seems logical that the first of anything is going to have some bugs to be worked out..just look at the first batch of EF Yaks..they had some small problems which Im sure Chris has taken care of for the ever elusive "second" batch..However unless Chris can come up with some kind of delivery time it looks like a QQ is in my future..

I own the large QQ YAk, finest ARF I have ever seen. It was first run - it had a few minor problems but no biggie for a new run plane and the factory more than made good on any issues. I love the big yak so much I have my name on the list for the 50CC version too. The 50cc version is due out late summer / early fall.

Good things are worth waiting for.....

Yeah, I know where Greentown is. Huge family reunion on July 4th at Greentoen park every year. Haven't been for about 10 yrs. though.

I was born and raised in Jackson Township.
Back in the day, the flying site was at Kent State branch near Belden Village...anyone still fly over there?

And yes, the year-round flying is quite taxing mentally :D:D:D
There are two times that I really am glad to not be in OH any longer...in the winter...and the rest of the year:D

Has anyone seen the new Aerotech Yak w/ 84" ws? I currently own a W/H Extra 300 LX Special w/ a zdz 50ng onboard and love it. However, I have an offer on it and was wanting to goto a Yak. Some feedback would be great.
