OMP or Extreme Flight RC

I am thinking of getting into electric with either the OMP 3D Buddy or Extreme Flight RC Yak 55 SP-E..........any opinions on which might be better? They appear to be about the same in price.

it's actually Ultra RC's buddy series. I think the EF yak is out of stock,

i have the original buddy, and it flies awesome, some say the Edge buddy flies even better, and the Buddy Katana's should be in stock soon, i think they would fly good too.

They are built in the same factory, and basically the same plane, just different shapes.

I would say it's down to which you like best:D, they are so similar that your not going to see a lot of difference between them:).

The EF Yak now comes with a superbly made ply motor mount for a outrunner type motor:D, I'm not sure if the Ultra Rc range does though, I guess someone else could shed some light on this????

I would say an outrunner is the right thing for this type of model, it's got more torque than most geared drive and it's smoother than most geared drives:D.

But if your not going with an outrunner then that is irrelevant, again it's not going to be that different with a gear drive (ie. it's still going to be AWESOME:D:D:D!)

Here's my setup on the EF Yak:

Motor: Extreme Flight Torque 22T/930
Battery: Flight power Extreme 3s1p 1050
ESC: Castle creations Phoenix-25
Servos: HS-55 x4
Rx: Blue Arrow R3P5
Prop: 10x4.8

And thats never missed a beat:D[8D]!

So I would say that they are all going to be similar, pick out the one that stands out for you:D.

I hope this helps a bit;).

Greg.

The new EFRC yak 55sps have been improved a great deal over the old ones. they have sourced a new manufacturewho has both improved the design and impored strength. i stuffed my one in from about 40 foot vertically after a threw my lipo out on some tight bunts. i picked it up, put my lipo back in, and flew it again. it is very strong. Powering it with the torque 22T/930 is great too. Its most proberbly the most powerfull plane you could ever come across, with a fully charged lipo you are nearing 3:1 power to weight ratio.

Also, they are only a couple of weeks away (dont hold me on this, i dont really have anything to do with EFRC, only [link=http://www.freestyle-rc.com]Freestyle-RC[/link], thir UK counter part). Trust me on this one, hold on for a few more weeks and you will have IMO the best 3D electric flyer out there, and there arnt many who will dissagree to that one once they have flown it;)

just read on another forums that Atlanta hobbies will have the EFRC Yak 55sps in on Tuesday. now there is absolutly no excuse to have a sub-standard plane and not to have IMO THE best parkflyer out;)

Ultra RC has a few Buddy's and they are all great, I've got every one of them. The combo prices are insane too.
