JR Matchbox
I'm in the midst of building a 35% extra, and in past projects of similar type aircraft, I've always just used Y connectors to connect two aileron servos. (Basically, try to get the geomatry as close as possible, y connect the two servos, and plug it into the receiver)
I'm planning to use two JR 8411 Digital servos per aileron, and I was wondering if anyone out there has used the Matchbox, as opposed to just plain old Y connectors. Is there an advatage?? Are they reliable?? Are they easier to set up?? Any info would be appreciated. Thanks Sam |
JR Matchbox
Running one in my G-trick on the split elevator setup. Couldn't live without it, much more precise servo matching. And it weighs practically nothing.
I'll buy more for future projects. - Scott |
JR Matchbox
RUNNING ONE ON MY 540 EDGE WORKS GREAT EASY TO SET UP BETTER THEN A Y HARNESS WITH A REVERSER WITH A DIAL

I'm sure I'm gonna get slammed for this but, I used to love JR servos, had them in everything big. But I've gotta tell you since I got the Hitec HS-5925/45's and the programmer I'll never go back. You can program the speed, the center, the direction, the dead band width, end points, install failsafe at the servo, and a few other things. Plus you can test any other servo from any manufacture. I tested 6 8411's and no 2 were alike. None of the Hitecs I checked so far were a match from the factory, but push a few buttons and there perfect. And the best part is for the price of 5 8411's you can get 5 HS-59XX's and have enough left over to buy the programmer. The programmer can also be used to sweep the servos in the plane without the radio gear making set-up a breeze. JR needs to set up and make a similar device. This is all just my opinion, but check it out if you can. :^)

HOW MUCH FOR?
OUTCAST:
How much for the digital programmer etc... the Matchbox $70+-,granted you would have to buy one for each plane!! |
JR Matchbox
I paid $149. on sale and the servos were $75 each. Hobby Horse sells the programer for $154

I'm with OUTCAST on this one. I've seen 40%er's with up to three matchboxes. I use the programmer and and find it very very useful.
As far as JR stepping up to produce a similar device, this is the age of technology and all three major brands need to step up and produce better radio's and Rx's. We should be able to do this stuff with our TX's. Just my thoughts Dave |
