need to learn flat spins

i also put this in the electric one, biut i thought i'd try here too!

was trying them for a while with a plane that wasn't set up right.

now i have a foamy that i love (6 flights!!! i love it i love it i love it!!!) anyway, i'm trying to learn flat spins again but before i try it i tyhought i'd ask a few questions

1) will my plane disintegrate? (cap232 from 3dfoamie.com, the old flat wing one)
2) should i be using high (3d) rates?

thanks a lot guys. i really appreciate you taking time off flying to help me/us out.

(we all know we'd fly 24/7 if we could)

your plane should be fine, and yes, use full 3d rates, preferably 45 degrees all around, maybe less on ailerons...

there are two ways to enter, from a stall after cutting power in a vertical climb, or by starting into a downard spiral and leveling out....

the stall is an easier entry, but you have to know where your plane likes the sticks for a good flatspin... I usually cut throttle, feed in rudder just as it falls back, then elevator, and continually feed in a little bit of aileron until it flattens out (imagine yourself in the plane, if you are spinning to the left, you use right aileron, naturally the plane will try to dip the inside wing, use the aileron to counteract it and flatten out, but don't over-do it, or the plane will flop out....

the other way, is to start with full rudder and elevator, but start with opposite aileron of what you would normally use in the flatspin, the plane should spiral down pretty fast, once it gets going, push the aileron the other way and flatten out

keep it a few mistakes high the first time :)

Rich, take that thing way up, then straight down with left ail spinning the heck out of it, then go full right rudder and full down elevator and while you see it starting to enter a inverted flat spin start going to right aileron and giving it some power at the same time(about half power to startand stop there) but keep going to right aileron till its flat, works every time with the proper adjustments, maybe a little one way or the other but you can do it:D

FOR ME CERTAIN PREREQ. I OBSERVED.
THE SHIP HAAAASSSSS TO BE PRO-TAIL HEAVY SO MUCH SO THAT WHEN INVERTED IT CLIMBS AT 1/2 THROATLE
IF INVERTED FLATSPIN THE RUDDER AND AILERONS SHOULD BE AT SAME DIRECTION I.E.
RIGHT RUDDER RIGHT AILERONS VICE VERSA
JUST MY 2 CENTS...... HOPE THIS HELPS

RE: need to learn flat spins

sort of. needs practice. CG should be far enough back, i'm flying at 50%(!!)

put it that way to settle a bet. been flying almost a year, and dad din't reckon i could do it.... showed him! i will bring it forward when i get around to it... the batt is so far back i'll have to move the plastic guides for the velcro!!!

anyway, back to the point. it sort of worked, it was a very windy day so i only got 3 flights in, but i think i will get it soon

till next time

Easy way to get a flat spin (Inverted)....

Push the sticks to the antenna. If the plane is in a vertical dive shove both sticks to the antenna. Up and in. The plane should immediately enter an inverted flat spin.

Modify this to get a blender....

Start with a vertical dive. Give full left aileron only. Let plane complete a few rotations. Then, shove the sticks to the antenna. Hold on! Blender to flat spin.

that's a regular spin!just at full throttle!

RE: need to learn flat spins

Just be very careful doing the blender (where you're going strait down and "put em to the antenna and in"). I almost completly killed one of my planes. I had a little too much speed and was going strait down and moved the sticks in to start the flat-spin. When I landed, part of the fuse, and wing were a little cracked.

If you have too much speed, then you can just start to bury the grave for the plane!!
