Showtime CG?
 

The manual says 7 7/16" from leading edge but I've heard somewhere that this incorrect. What is the correct CG? Mine came out severly tail heavy. It's gonna take around 4-5oz to balance the damn thing at 7 7/16". I'm using the saito 100 and I guess I should not of put the rudder servo in the tail. Looks like it would of came out just about perfect with the YS110 since it weighs about 6oz heavier than the Saito 100.

you need a pull-pull with a Saito 100.

The 7--7/16 is about right - also the fuel tank location will alter that full or empty -it is quite far forward -but leave it there .
I did this model per the book with only these exceptions : Pull pull on the 8411 servo -- the rx and throttle servo (mid -mini) are just forward the wing tube. 900Ma KANN NIMH (under 4 ozs) batt mounted on the top rear of engine mount - PLENTY of battery
APC 15x8 prop on the 100 Saito.
The balance was right to the kit point.
best part- It flies well there .
use 30% fuel on the Saito Heli type lots of oil.

The problem is I already installed the servo in the tail. Any ideas on how to remove that bolt in the rudder and switching it to the long threaded rod for the pull-pull style set-up. I 30-min epoxied that that thing in there.

easy to do -just take a soldering gun and heat the bolt for maybe 30 seconds -till hot - grab it with vise grips and remove it

the recomended CG flew a little tailheavy for my taste.. just try it at recomended CG and move to your taste. one persond perfect CG another hates . the recomended is way back so i wouldnt advise going back further to test fly it. i have tried it further and it just develops bad habbits

I guess I must use pull pull for rudder with YS-110 , right?

mine came out on CG with the servo in tail with a YS-110.. before i crashed it i was going to move it pull pull since it flew tailheavy for my taste..

Flew it for the first time today with the 7oz of nose weight. Flew beautifully! I am very happy I decided to got with this plane. It's problably too heavy to do hard 3d maneuvers with the saito 100 and all the extra weight but, for now, I am thrilled. I will try the soldering iron to remove the epoxied bolt and switch to a pull-pull set-up and shave 1/2lbs off the plane. Thanks Dick Hanson!

The soldering iron trick works like magic!! The nut and screw came right out. I switched to the pull-pull, move the throttle servo forward, and changed out a JR811 to a HS81 on the throttle. HAving done that I was able to pull almost 7oz of nose weight out and close to an ounce for the servo swap. Shaved 8oz off the plane!

When I did the pull-pull conversion I made it so the wire were taunt in the nuetral position. When you give it full left or right input there is quite a bit of slack on the non-pulling side. IS this normal or do you want to keep it fairly tight throghout the motion? How do you correct this? Is it because I used to short of an arm for how far the horns are screwed out on the tail control threaded rod?
