smoke
Hello i just puchased a slimline skywriter pump and was using it the other day for the first time and it was in a 20 oz tank, it kept losing prime when i did even a fast roll or a loop. i used the yellow gasoline line inside of the tank, clunk was heavy one but not the biggest one. should a guy use some of that black line that is more flexable or what are you guys doing. i have the check in the line for the exhaust so it can flow only to exhaust, line out to pump and vent line open to outside fuse just like the instructions say but i keep losing prime. ***. Help would be much appreciated.

RE: smoke
Is the pump in front of the tank? I have heard (not sure if it is true) a rumor that if the pump is in front of the tank, it will lose prime. I run my smoke pump (a Don Harris) behind the tank and it works great.

RE: smoke
yup it is behind the tank and lower to. i think the yellow line is just not flexable enough.????? coming out of the oil in fast rolls and such. but there has to be a way. ive seen vids where they are just going nuts and stilll smokin.

RE: smoke
FYI I just put one in my Carden Extra.
I recommend two check valves, one on either end of the smoke pump. That way the fluid cannot go back into the tank from the pump. I've used this on a Slimline, a Skywriter, and a TME and they all worked fine as far as prime is concerned. I actually over kill mine, on my 106 I put a check valve behind each muffler, as well as a check valve behind the pump. Check out Carden's site to see my 330 pumpin' smoke through some maneuvers. That would be my only thought, but also do check to make sure something crazy didn't happen like the clunk fell off or something. If you'd like to move the tank around that's OK I guess but a lot of work (or potentially redesign). It may help to move the pump to be inline with the tank on a vertical plane to, to avoid any gravity feed issues. |
RE: smoke
thanks, i'll try that. cause it sure looks awesome smokin LOL
