Rolling Circle question......
 

Finally spending the time to learn rolling circles.....yikes these are a pain....
I'm getting it, but they ain't pretty yet!:D


Just curious how most people do theirs... Rolling to the inside of the circle (ie: say your circle is going to the right, so your airplane is rolling around its axis to the right as well) or rolling to the outside of the circle (ie: circle is going to the right while the plane is rolling around its axis to the left)


Which way, and which was is easier for you??

It was easier for me to roll outside of the turn. Direction of the turn didnt matter.
Everyone is different though.

If your going to fly IMAC at any level past Intermediate you need to be able to go inside, outside and have the turn go any direction.
I see people (even in Unlimited) fly an Unknown downwind because the roller works out better for them in that direction. :)

Ultimately, I'm going to try all directions... for now I am learning to roll in to the circle..... just seemed easier to me....

I'm busy with rolling harriers, which involve the same stick inputs... I find it way easyer to roll to the opposite direction of the circle's direction.. I find it easyer to input rudder or elevator a little earlyer than later to keep the rolling harrier turning in a given direction... Try it an ull see what I mean..

I can get the right inputs to where I'm rolling to the right and also doing the circle the the right in a clockwise way. I haven't tried it in real life and think the sim is just messing me up. Anyone got a video of what I'm talking about, or know where to find one? I can to them all day with rolling right and circle counter clockwise and then come to the runway and do a rolling harrier. Now that is fun. Or do all that opposite.

:)extra...I circle to the left and roll to the inside. I'm reallly working on keeping them level and a rather large circle and to have about two rolls per quarter.
The most significant thing I've learned...pull the antana up on the radio. Scratch one pretty nice UCD.

I turn to the left, roll to the right. The more rolls, the easier it is. I want to learn the one roll circle. I saw that done once, and it was awesome. I usually have 8 to 10 rolls, and I never get the circle completely round.

I do mine on the sim and don't have to worry about pulling out the antenna.:) I generally roll outside, but I'm practicing everything.

rolling outside is easier for me, but I can do both directions. After a lot of practice I can fly horizontal 8's while rolling.
Now I'm training the 1 rol in 1 circel, but the best I can get is about 1 rol in 270° (and it doesn't look pretty). Maybe it's time for a sim:D

I am a thumb flyer and the outside seems easier to me. It's just more comfortable to hold the aile stick to the right.

I can do the 1 roll for the circle. But I just haven't perfected it. Gain, Loose altitude and it's not really a circle.

Keep Practicing, I need that too.
