Dual Servo Problem
 

I'm just finishing up a Edge 540 60 size. I have two servos on the elevator, one on each side. One has more travel than the other, which would cause it to want to twist in flight. What do I need to do to get them to match up properly. They are Hitec HS-225BB. Might I need "matched" servos?

Well. What is wrong is that the pushrod geomety is wrong. My guess is that the servos are located exact oposite of each other???? If so, you need a Y with a servo reverser installed. This should take care of things.

Already did that. I have a servo reverser installed and the push rods are the same.

I had the same problem until I put one of those MPI splitters on it. All of that mess is gone now.

But if you already have that installed and having problems with travel sounds like a mechanical travel issue. I would check for the obvious. Same brand of servos on each side. Look to see where the pushrod is on the servo horn and make sure the horns are same brand then make sure its the same on other side. Then check the clevis on the control surface to see if pushrod is on same hole. Then check to see if the control horns are exactly in same spot. Look to see if one is pushed back a little further than other.

Then after all that remove the control rod off the control surface and manually move it back and forth at same time as other and see if both move the same. Sometimes one side may have a mechanical bind in it due to the hinges. One might move freely much more than the other. Sometimes the hinges get a little bind in it and they top out a lot quicker than one that is not under a bind. That will cause one side to move more than other also.

Do away with the on board mixers, get a computer tranny, use seperate channels, get them as close as you can mechanically and then make your tranny work for a living.
