Worlds Model Cap 232

Hello All -

I have a worlds model cap 232 with a os 46ax engine and I recently put on a apc 12x7 prop. Is that the ideal prop for 3d. Can you recommend alternative props.

Thanks

Mark

I would use a 12X4 Zinger wood prop,
that might even be to much if the plane
is on the heavy side...

The two best props for 3D on a 46 sized 2C engine are the APC 12.25x3.75 or the 11x5. The 12x7 is waaaay too much for a 46 2C engine. That is more like for a 60 sized 2C. The CAP 232 is a light plane and the 12.25x3.75 would be good stuff. You should tach at least 12,500 RPM.

Wow - I believe that is the exact prop a member at my field told me to get but I forgot the minute I left.

He also mentioned using a slow fly prop.

Thanks

Anyone else flown one of these? What is the arf quality and flying characteristics? 3D well??

I am thinking about getting one for myself.

I just bought one the other day on the fly. Saw the display hanging up in my LHS (the Castrol Scheme) and for 120.00 had to grab one. Threw it on a shelf for a rainy day. I don't think it's gonna be a great 3d plane. Control surfaces are small (not oversized). It does look awsome though. should be a great little flyer. If anyone has flown one lets hear about it.

I think its enough with the 12X4 but don't use Master Airscrew because its tends to flat and loose the pitch at high RPM's

I have beeen flying one of these for several years with a Saito .91. The most solid flying .46 planes built. Tail surface is is plenty for 3-D, but ailerons are a little small for torque rolls. You will love how it flies.

Does it float in like an edge or does it need plenty of air speed until flare? My son and I just finished his tonight. We'll be flying it this weekend. We put the OS .46 AX in it . I know it won't be a 3d power house but I think it will be enough to have some fun with. Any comments on this engine. I've had the .46 FX and the .50 a couple of years ago, But have'nt messed with the smaller planes in a while. Anyone know why they call it the "AX"? What's the difference from the old version other than the new style muffler?

Thank's

It likes a little speed on approach. Light model w/thin wing, doesnt like to slow down. but very stable and will not drop a wing.
Careful in windy cond.

PCM, your plane is the Castrol Cap right??

PCM, How did your CG come out with that engine, just curious mine is ordered and I'm looking for the biggest engine that will work without a ton of mods. Thanks..........

I have one of these sitting in my loft waiting for me to clear other projects off the building board, would be quite keen to find out it flies, i was thinking of sticking my MVVS 45 with the mini pipe on it

I use a 12x4 APC with my .46AX on a Funtastic 3D (2,1kg) and it hovers at 60-70% throttle.

Hi,

I use a 13x6 with my Saito FA-72 it hovers at around half throttle and flies quite well with this prop... with the AX I would use either a 11x6 or 12x6. Obviously this depends on your flying style, I do not fly 3d and do not think these props are best suited to 3d. The props listed above are your 3d props these are an alternative if you do not want 3d.

Flip over and out!!!

No, mine is the Brietling model without decals applied.

The CG is almost perfect without any weight, I think I added 3/4 oz. to tail with all radio equip in stock location.
With the .91 it will accelerate out of a hover and leave black marks in thin air!
I use a 12x6 APC prop and use it for mosly aerobatics. I switched to the 6 pitch because it would not slow down enough to land with the 8 pitch. I used to shut it off on approach with the 8, but it was worth about 25 mph. This thing will haul the mail!!

PCM
Thanks a lot for the info. Elevation here is 6000' so I learned my funtana .40 with a saito .82 and 14x4 apc prop I didn't have unlimited vertical. It will pull out of a hover, but barely. Thanks.........

The 12.25x3.75 apc prop is working great. After the engine was tuned out the plane is flying very well. Haven't tried too much 3d with it but I will ring it out in the morning.

:-)

Hey Propwashed -

How did you make out with the maiden flight ? I was flying my cap 232 this past weekend and I am not sure if this is the best bird for 3d. Can someone tell me differently if you have it. Is 46AX decent or should I go bigger. I am using a 12.25 x 3.75 prop.

Mustang:

Did you get the CAP? I am thinking of the WM CAP or the GP CAP. I cannot decide.
