Hovering fixed wing

Are you guys that are getting fixed wing planes to hover just a few feet off the ground using gyros? I learned to hover without them just like I learned to fly helis without them. Now I use them in helis but haven't in planes yet. If you use them, what controls are you using them on. Just curious how others are doing it. Noone else here can do it so I don't have anyone to compare notes with.

you can start with gyros in elevator and rudder but its not worth it unless you have them already. Im at about 10ft right now but am working down low every time i go out. It has a lot to do with the plane. Some hover better than others. Good luck

I dont think I'd want to learn 3d or hovering on gyros. They will teach you bad habits. You will have to relearn alot after taking the gyro's off. Get a plane that will hover well, and a good motor, and practice high enough up to recover from any attitude the plane falls into. Burn fuel and have a blast.

If you need a gyro to hover a plane then your not gonna learn anything. I'd say 98% of the guys you see hovering airplanes do not use gyros. It's all hand/eye coordination, guts and stick time...
