60 size Yellow Aircraft and Kangke Caps. Numbers wise the weight looks about 7.5 pounds for each. The wing area is 674 for the YA and 694 for the Kangke. Looks I'd have to give to YA. Pricing is about $50 in favor of Kangke. Anybody care to comment on flying behavior or anything? Coupling issues? Neutral flying or not? True to advertized weight? Stable in 3D flight?

Thanks,

They are both high quality planes and what ever you decide you'll like it. If you run a search on the planes, there's lots of info on both in the ARF forum. Both companies stand behind their products and from my experience their tech support is the best. The Yellow has a nicer finish on the covering {monocoat I think, ultrakote on the Kangke}, but I think the Kangke flies a little smoother, this could be due to the set-ups not the planes. Construction is about the same quality.
This is of course just my opinion :^)

Hi,
Have a look at the Kange reveiw on www.down_on_the_deck.com , it looks like a realy good plane!
P.s. you'll have to take out the '_' in the URL as this forum masks this for some reason!

can't compare the two, just offer some comments on the ya cap. i replaced some hardware i didn't like; control arms, ect. my 14 year old son flies it and does amazing things with it. it has very good low speed flight characteristics, just as advertized. powered our's with a ys91. seems to be the ultimate combination. we're also flying our's without the wheel pants do to the beautiful thick grass at our field. i think they can be cut and raised a bit to work. the fiberglass cowl and wheel pants match the monocote exactly. it's definately not my last YA.............gare

flight behavior of cap?

I am new to flying and I want to know more about caps. I have been flying a SuperStar trainer and a Vmar V-stick. Would a cap be a good third plane? Someone please give me lots of info/comparisons between the Caps and the other 'high performance' planes (edges, extras, etc...). I appreciate anything anyone has to offer!

Thanks,

Matt

TailTwister,

I have one of the few prototype Kangeke Cap 60 size. I have probably put more than 200 flights on it. It does evrything you ask it to do, and that includes harriers and waterfall. Mine is powered by YS91AC. Unlimited verticals but slow coming out of hovers ( the empty weight is closer to 8lbs). My elevator throws are 45 deg each direction and it is plenty. The CG is right on the spar.

I will be switching to YS120FZ soon. Hopefully the abused fuselage on it can handle that monster.

IndyFlyer- Depending on how it is set up, a Cap can be docile or barely controlable. It is sometimes called the "Snap 232" because it can be quite violent in a snap, whether you intend it to be or not. Most Caps are by design a bit aggressive for a first low wing plane. It can be done however, it depends on you for the most part. Reflexes, coordination, and skill are all that keep you flying if things get out of hand. The Edge and Extra are generally less "snappy" unless they are set up with a drastically aft CG. Any of the three are extremely capable planes and would be a challenge (not impossible) for a low time pilot. It would be quite some time before you are "better" than the plane with any of them.

azhar- Thanks for the input. That Cap is still in the running. I had a pal with one of the early ones, and he liked it. Once he got the CG right he had a blast. There was some mix up with the translating of the manual (or something) that put the CG way back. It made for one heck of a test flight. He's fortunate that he knew how to fly a rudder, because it was a "near harrier" landing.
