CA Models' Funky .40 ?
Anybody built one of these? I have it framed up ready to cover but I am stuck on mounting my engine. There are no plans for the fuselage and no dimensions given for the thrustline. The manual just says to mount the engine inverted on a 45 degree angle so the muffler is on the bottom of the plane. Help!

CA Models' Funky .40 ?
I think that may be as good as it gets. I am having the WB built--one thing that ticked me off is that I got no plans--I called PlanesPlus to get basic info like that-when I was told that any builder worth his salt can figure out something that simple. (nice plane though!)

Any builder worth his salt?
That's crazy. Sure we can "figure it out". But thrustline placement is critical to any planes performance, especially aerobatic models capable of 3D. It should be detailed on the plans and in the manual. I have never come across another kit that didn't. Don't get me wrong, this kit is awesome. Great engineering. Strong and super light. English translation in the manual leaves a little to be desired though.

If you think you are ticked off......I was really hot because I bought a kit that came with no plans--didn't notice it until I opened the box (bought it a Joe Nall)-Then when I asked for some and was treated like I asked for a $400 engine.....Well.......I will just leave things at that. Can't wait to get it flying-- looks like a great performer---customer service?????????That is another story

CA Models' Funky .40 ?
Anyone have a link to a vendor for this plane?
Thanks. Joe |
Funky 40
I have jusy ordered the Funky 40,expect same next week.
A few months ago,I was also thinking of this kit,and I think [?] at that time the instructions were available on line. I am certain I read them! But,last week I could not find them on the Planes Plus website. Maybe I am just dreaming,or maybe the instructions were removed?? |
Funky .40 Manual
The manual is still online. Go to the planesplus homepage and click on the product listing link under the CA models logo. I just wish they would put a diagram of the fuse on there!

CA Models' Funky .40 ?
HEY @@
I have just ordered the 27% and 24% extra from planesplus.com. I hope that he sends me the plans for that......or else........ :) lol........do they really dont send the plans ?? i doubt must have missed it in your kit !! cheers azuz |
Plans
I might need to clarify. CA includes plans for the wing, stab and fin but not the fuselage. The fuse parts lock together like a three dimensional jig saw puzzle and then you ca it together. It makes for one tough and true structure. It would just be nice if they included a side and top view of the fuselage indicating motor placement. I am not sure if this applies to all of their kits, or just the funky.

Funky 40
Anyone who has built the Funky 40,where did you install the Rudder servo,in order to balance the plane??
Thanks,,,,,,,,,,,Dave |
CA Models' Funky .40 ?
I'm going to Argentina this Christmas (Summer there boys!!!!), and might pick up one of these and their Widebody. Did you see their Widebody 40? I am interested to see how that goes.

Rudder Servo
dfs,
I'm putting my rudder servo in the tail on the bottom. Using pull-pull set up. I am running an O.S. .50sx with an Ultrathrust muffler. It took a little bit of work building the tunnel for the muffler, but I think it was worth it. |
CA Models' Funky .40 ?
I am also using the OS .50 SX,with the supplied muffler, and an O.S.extension.
I attached the cowl permanently;a bit more work but it looks better and no screws to back out.I moneycoted about 1/8th inch over the edge of the cowl, after applying a bit of Stix-it. Then masked with 3m low tack tape [the olive green stuff]and painted the cowl with TF Lustrecoat. It's ready to fly in a couple days, but probably won't until Spring. Dave |
Funky
Just now starting to cover mine. Keep us posted on flight tests.
Has anyone flown one of these yet? |
CA Models' Funky .40 ?
I have been flying one for a couple months now, and the funky40 flies great. It will waterfall, hover, flat spin, rolls fast and even snaps good. I have a os46 on mine with good power.

CA EXTRA PICs
hi guys
This is my freinds 24% which is getting ready. At KPM customers come first. So I Have to wait for mine to be actually covered after this one is done............so in the mean time enjoy this ! I love this scheme http://www.indiarc.netfirms.com/cgi-...=extrawing.jpg |
Funky .40 weight
Looks like mine is coming in around 4lbs and 9ozs with the OS .50sx. Is this about right ?
|
CA Models' Funky .40 ?
Near enough I think, theirs came in at spot on 2KG, about 4.4 pounds.

Servo selection
I could save an additional 2.16ozs by using standard ball bearing servos. Just not sure they would be up to the task torque wise. Was planning on using Futaba S9405 on rudder, S9001 on elevators and ailerons, and a S3101 micro precision on throttle. Any thoughts, real world experience on servo selection for this plane? Is saving 2.16ozs worth the loss of servo torque and precission of the coreless servos?

CA Models' Funky .40 ?
contempo,
I used two JR537 standard ballbearing 50oz on the ailerons and JR4721 119oz on the elevators and rudder. they all worked well. |

I have the Funky, i'm now modifing the funky, it's the 4 fourth I ever own.
It flyes really good, but you got too balance well the plane in order to don't have problems. The airplane is an excelente one you can see me in the ca model page. www.camodel.com.ar My name is Miguel Larreinegabe [email protected]. there you can wacht me at the ca model page flying a hover and touching the ground so eeasy. The funkies that I have owned had this configuration. First one FX.46 engine is not so good for the plane, but better does the neew AX. 46 it's far enough power left for the hover. Apc 12.25*3.75 and 15% nitro, Standars servos 6 s3004 Ball Bearing. NO I have the Saito .72 Funky II with Master 13*6 nylon prop, it's real power for hover's.s SAtndars S3004 servos, I used Cool Power, or Dinamix 15% nitro IT's enough. And now i'm Buiding my Funky number 4 and I have modified de fuse making one a little bit thin than the original I wiil place the picture later. It's going to be the Funky EVO IV[ |
