New planes for next year

Hey all,
I know it has been a while since i have posted anything but between college, work, and hockey I have lost so much time. I just wanted to see what everyone is working on this winter? I have a new ZN line Twister(Pattern plane) and a bunch of foamies so lets here what you got.

you know that your welcome down this way any time.

I am seriously thinking about trying pattern this year. I want to become a smoother pilot and I think that pattern is the way to do it. I just don't know whether to do electric or glow. I would prefer to do electric but I am not sure I can afford all the batteries and stuff.

My dad is building us a couple of Extra 300's for our personal use so depending on when you come down maybe I will have something to fly. It also sounds like the 40% sukhoi will coming allong any time now, I know the wings are done just have to build the fuse. I think we are going to set both of them up with ks 1090's or something similar so it should be sweet.

I know that pattern helpped me out a lot and I still like flying pattern over the big planes anyday. I do know what you mean about all the batteries and such with electric. It is expensive but it is also nice not to have to worry about if your motor will start when you get to the flying field and so on. Also you dont have to carry as much to go fly just some batteries and chargers and yoour good to go. I will see about coming down soon. Maybe I will just fly into Greenville and hang out there.

My brothers tailwheels are available direct his email is [email protected] have your friend send him a email

cool thanks for the tailwheel stuff.

What setups would you recommend for electric (motor, speed control, batteries) or what glow engine would you think. I am going to probably dust the plane off tonight and see about recovering the wings in a better looking scheme.

Hey Andrew,

I'm surprised you have any time to yourself at all, with that full plate.

I'll be flying my Showtime a bunch more and I threw together another CG Extreme 330 to slap around the sky.

I should have my 1/3 scale 300 in the air in a month or so, I got it 2nd hand and it'll need a little covering repair but it's new to me.

I also have my usual 3 or 4 foamies to put together yet and also a mini Edge from E-Flite.

Oh yeah, I'm picking up Mark Atwood's El-Nino to fly for pattern for next year, I should have that in the middle of December, my wife's Christmas present to me:D

That's about it, it'll be a slow winter for me.

Ken,

I do have a pretty full plate so we will see how everything turns out for next year. I am thinking about taking morning classes so I can atleast practice some during nthe nights( I hope ). I am actually building a show time as we speak and it is a really nice kit. I got to fly Steve Maxwells and really liked it. I thought about going electric on it but have decided against as I think it would be way to heavy and would make the wing loading to through the roof. So instead I just bought a YS 110 for it.

Which 1/3 scale extra 300 is it? Lanier, Midwest. I hope you get that going soon because the longer you wait to fly it the colder your going to be when you fly it. I cant believe it is already snowing here.

I know what you mean about foamies I seem to always be building foamies.

Marks El Nino will be a great plane for you, it flys really well. We will have to get together when you get it and get it all setup.

Well, I have to go to work now( O boy)

You're going to love the Showtime, I'm flying mine with a Saito 150 and it still flies "light as a feather", it's a lot of fun.

I'm not sure which Extra it is, the guy told me but I forgot. I think he said the distributor is out of Minnesota or something. I hope I still get it, he's been dodging my phone calls and I wasn't real nice in the last phone message I left him, 4 days with no return phone call is a bit much.

I'll let you know when I get the El Nino. If the weather takes a break, and we can work out a day with both of our schedules, we'll hit the field for some test flights.

Talk to you soon,

Ken

Ken,

You'll love that El Nino~ It's a great flying airplane. I already passed that info along to Paul that you have an airplane, so he'd better get to work for next year. I think he's really excited about it. Now all I have to do is get Pete Cosky to travel with us and the 3 of you should have a lot of fun.

Thanks Arch,

I can't wait for next year, it's going to be a blast!

I've been on Pete, I'm sure he's going to make as many contests as he can.

See ya' next season.

Ken
