Moki 2.10 or 1.80?
Which engine is better for the Dave Pattrick Extra? Considering flutter at high speeds.
|
DPE ? Moki
MadDog,
the 2.10 is the perfect match for this airplane. Remember, this model is meant for slow to moderate flying, not high speed. Throttle should only be at max for uplines and 3D! When proped right, this is an excellent combo. Check out this link,http://www.3dbatix.com/ Go to the DPE link. Hope this helps! |

Moki 2.10 or 1.80?
Very correct, I have the 2.10 in mine, and you can see how it performs. I think that the 1.8, being a slight bit lighter, would pull the Extra fine. The new generation of Extras and Edges from Dave Patrick, are going to be lighter, and the 1.8 would be geat.

thought....
Zack,
I thought I had heard that you were disappointed in the vertical pulling power in one of the last competitions..... |
oopppssss did i say that?
How much lighter are the newer kits coming in? Are we talking 6-12 oz? that video with the 2.10 moki is the power of choice for 3d. a smaller motor will end up screaming flying the plane around.......

Zak's Moki is dying
Zak's 2.10 is dying. It's that 10% he's feeding it is what's killing it. When he was using the Mejlik 19x8, the vertical sucks, it will stop climbing at 350~400ft. Then he was using a 3W wooden prop 20x8 and is much better. Then I showed him what the Bambula can do with my Edge so he ordered one.
I say Moki 2.10 and a Bambula 20x8 would be more than enough for the DP Extra. |
Moki 2.10 or 1.80?
The new kits are going to be a half pound lighter, so thats why I say that you can run the 1.8 on them. I am thinking about using the 2.10 on one, but i might not. We'll have to see. Mecam's right, the Bambula of his is impressive.

second the 2.10
I've seen the DP Ultimate on a Moki 2.10 and it is great! The 2.10 has unbeliveable power!

Moki 2.10 or 1.80?
I have a BME 44 gasser on my Patrick. I have considered a swap from the gasser to the big Moki glow engine .
From RCFAQ's prop RPM data on the MOKI I see it spins the 20x10 Mejzlik prop in the the same 7600-7700RPM range that the BME 44 turns it. Thrust HP says that would be about twenty seven pounds of static thrust , or a 1.7:1 power to weight ratio. A few more RPM using the Bambula 20x8 prop mecam talks about could be just the ticket BTW, I have the Moki 1.8 on a 74" Extra and have been very very impressesed with this engine spinning the 19x8 Mezjlik propeller. -Cheech |
