Moki 2.1 question

Have a question, might use a moki 2.1 on an 80" 15 lb giles, will that be sufficient, or should just use the bme 50 that I originally want to use?

Moki

moki

Go with the Moki as long as you can keep the plane at the 15 lbs. zone.

Moki 2.1 question

I'm flying a 14lb Extra with a BGX and it has plenty of power to hover. In fact, the thrust is there to do a verticle hand launch. I just haven't found anyone who wants to hold the model. :) If my BGX will do this, I'm sure the Moki 2.1 will be just fine.

gas

Why Moki? I recommend the BME.

Gas is much cleaner, and provides the thrust needed....I'd be interested in knowing how many of the folks that are recommending the Moki have actually tried gas themselves, esp. the BME 50.

My experience with the BME shows that it is a fantastic motor, burns much less fuel than the Moki, the fuel is much cheaper than methanol-based mixes, gas burns cleaner so relatively no cleanup is required, and the gas is the same stuff you put in the car.

Ask for reasons, not just recommendations, and also ask for the recommdners experience with the other alternative, and you might get a different story.

Moki 2.1 question

Having flown gas, I prefer the large Moki types due to weight savings and no ignition noise to worry about. They are also more powerful for their size and are very familiar to most modlers since they setup and run exactly like a 40 size engine. They are just bigger.

Just my .02

Moki 2.1 question

The BME 50 is putting out a little more power, but not alot. I have the BME 44 is a 15 1/2 lb Extra and have considered switching it to the Moki 2.1 .

The BME 50 will spin the 21x10 Mejzlik at 7100 or so. The Moki will spin the 20x10 Mejzlik at 7600. There is about 2.5 lbs more of static thrust in the BME than there is in the Moki. Both are in the 27-29 lb's of thrust range.

Personally, I'd go with the moki for glow convenience, one battery, no ignition noise, less hassles and a far smaller purchase price. The Moki that I have is an AWESOME glow engine.

Moki 2.1 question

Following on with Cheech's comments in agreement. The Moki is 35cc and the BME 50 is, well, 50 cc. The Moki puts out almost as much power and I bet it is at least 50% lighter than the BME. I'll pay more for fuel when I can shave 2-3 lbs. off the weight of the model in addition to fewer items, read ignition equipment, to fail.

i am using the Moki 2.10 on a DP Extra, that is about 15 lbs.

Moki 2.1 question

3dbatixkid, what prop and what RPM on you Moki powered DP?

Moki 2.1 question

That prop was a Mejzlik 19x8 (believe it or not), but I found that a 20x8 3W (basically a Menz) responded and pulled better. Tomorrow I will try a Bambula (also 20x8). I will try to remember to post the results.

Moki 2.1 question

WOW, the Bambula is great!! It sounds better too. I used it today, and got new video. I dunno when the video will be up, but hopefully soon. First flight was a deadstick, cause I had the engine just a fuzz to lean. I richend it and it was fine after that. This was though, it was only taching about 7200, which is less than the 3W prop. I would go with either one, they are both fine.

Moki 2.1 question

Can someone give me the measurement from the backplate to where the back of the prop sits on a Moki 2.1? Thanks!

Moki 2.1 question

do you want it with the radial mount?? I suggest that you use the radial mount.
