I am awaiting my new DP and the recommendation is to put 2 servos on each aileron. One of the servos will be an 8411. I am uncertain about the 2nd servo. Am I correct in presuming that it should be just as fast as the 8411....18sec?? I have a Hitec 605 BB that is within .01 second faster than the 8411. Does this present any kind of synchronization problem for me?

Also, any opinions on whether this system should be a 4.8 volt system or a 6.0 volt?? Elevator and rudder will have 8411s also.

Use 4.8 volts. And use two of the same servos in the wings. It will just cause problems if you dont. What engine are you going to use?

i thought it was okay to use 6 volt

Me too, but it makes the 8411s get jumpy after a while. you should see my ailerons when I turn the plane on. They go into some kinda seziure. Thats with 6V

Thinking of the Moki 2.1...thoughts?

As to the servos...are you suggesting that I put 2 8411s on each aileron?? That's pretty rich.

I would definately make sure they are identical servos in the wings. I can't comment on what this plane will require torque wise but to put different servos on the same surface will cause problems.

No, use two of these http://www.horizonhobby.com/products...pc=JRPSDS9411.

Mine has the Moki 2.10. Check out the 3dbatix link for videos of mine.

6V

I'd use the 4.8V in this plane. I tried 6V with 4721's all around and they were a bit on the jittery side. When I switched to the 4.8 most of the jittering went away and I didn't notice a difference in response. The plane has big surfaces so response is great at 4.8V.

edge_fanatic 12-04-2002 01:48 AM

I use 6v

I have 5 cell batteries (actually a bit more than 6v) in my DP Extra....

As for whether to use 5 cells or not, it depends more on the radio equipment, rather than the plane, in my opinion....

I use hitec digitals, as well as hitec 645's, and 6v works fine...I also use two packs, with dual switches....

Whatever floats yer boat....er....flys yer plane....!

JR servos are different I think from the rest of the servos in that they dont tell you the 6 volt stats, which im guessing they dont run on 6 volt...

i use 6 volt on hitecs fine, just wondering why not on a jr servo

Hey 3dbatixkid, Does dave patrick sponsor you or did I just read this wrong in another forum,,] If so how did you manage that.....I am not sure how old you are but think you are around my age (20).....Anyway I am trying to figure out how to get some sponsors for IMAC next year but dont even have a clue on how to start......

3dbatixkid 12-04-2002 04:25 AM

Dave Patrick 330L

pfft, wow, can I have a beer if im 20?!? Hahaa, im 15. And what I did to get sponsored is made videos of me flyin (worked my butt off for 5 years to get that good), and then got on all the forums, including this one, and made myself known, and that the DP products are awesome. I just got the word around that the Extra is a great plane. I then called Mr Patrick, and talked to him. So now I promote his awesome products, and put his name on my plane and stuff.

Damn, Only 15 and you already have the skills you got, keep it up man and youll be doing this for a living by the time your my age....I have had offers but nothing to the point of people sending me airplanes or nothing. Plus i am trying to get through college and it takes up lots of time. If i would had been pursuing this in high school like you I would be way ahead of where I am right now....Anyway your doing a good job of promoting there planes, I bought the extra after I watched your video just because i could tell it was as stable as it could be for a 1/4 scale airplane...RIght now I am flying a ucdu3d, a creek Katana (((which is a 3d machine)))) a creek Sukhoi, and have the dave patrick extra on order with a moki 2.10 just waiting on it.....Ill post a video of its first flight in a while. Also do you do all of your own building or do you have someone else do it....TO me building is half the fun

Just wondering

Later, Kris

I can build ARFS and ARCS, but not kits. noone builds for me. I do everythin myself. I tell ya man, college scares me cause I know that i will have to not fly a lot to get through it. We'll see what I have to sell when the time comes. Id love to see videos, have any of the Katana?? I like the Katana, but if i ever get one it would be a 35 or 40%.

aerobat82 12-04-2002 05:37 AM

Dave Patrick 330L

Yea, I promise you that you will have to sell a couple of things, especially the 33% and above ones. If you move out into an apartment you will definately have too. I live in a one bedroom apartment and With two 1/4 scales, a u can du and a work table and all that good stuff, My apartment is completely full, So after the extra comes in I may be thru buying airplanes for a while until I can afford a bigger apartment, which at the rate I am getting airplanes, will be a long time. I got a few videos of the Katana but none that really show its true capabilities. the next time I go out I will film it doing some 3d stuff, It is by far the best 1/4 scale airplane I have ever flown. I had a friend do a custom paint job on it for me also, it looks pretty good..

Jittery Problems on 5v.

People, the answer is "Voltage Regulator"

3dbatixkid, college funding is not the problems, it's the girls! They are more expensive than this hobby. Trust me.

I'm trying to lighten it up. Hopefully it will 3D easier.

That pig?? Dude, you better let someone competent fly it for the 3D video *ahem cough* :D

Don't want you to ball it up. You have been lucky with your crashes on your DP. Although I have to say your DP looks like SH*T it still flies good. Also what was the reason you sold your EDGE? You couldn't 3D it like the DP. Uhuh!

Welsh3D, I downloaded the file but won't play on Windows Media Player. I have version 7.10. Do I need any third party codec plugins?

Nevermind, got it to work with an older Media Player.

lets see the kid fly that edge on video. is the dp extra really that much easier to do 3d over the h9 edge. is it more stable, does it want to drop a wing like the h9?

I've never seen that extra drop a wing. Super slow harriers are soooo stable. That is well designed plane by DP and I'm pretty sure their Edge will fly just like it.
