3D manuevers...
First video looks like an inside snap roll into a knife edge spin. Can be done easily on a model.
Second video looks like a harrier loop. I've seen it done on a 40% Extra. Third video looks like an inverted low pass. I've done it with my Warbird Corsair. One manuever I've not seen on a model is a consecutive double hammerhead. I've seen that on a full scale Pitts. |
3D manuevers...
i've almost had my ultimate in a double hammerhead, whether the c/g is too far forward, i don't have the sudden propwash needed or what i don't know..... maybe they change the prop pitch to get really rapid wash?

I've also tried the double hammerhead, because I've seen it at airshows too. My only guess is the larger planes have much higher inertia than models, so it's easier for them to keep swinging around.

3D manuevers...
Yeah, I saw that at the Fleet Week Airshow here in SF, CA. When I saw the Pitts do that my jaw just dropped. Then I tried to do it on my Edge and UCD the next day. The UCD can almost do it, it kinda climbs on the second hammerhead.

By the way The double hammerhead I think you guys are refering is called THE WATERFALL or LOOPET
1. hang the model - LOTS OF POWER NEEDED 2. Apply FULL TROTTLE + FULL DOWN ELEVATOR 3. AFTER 1 FULL REVOLUTION CATCH THE PLANE BACK IN HOVER 4. Repeat 2- 3 as long as you can each time losing as less alttitude as posible. LOTS OF PRACTICE NEEDED FPW |

Which one of you said full size couldn't do that? Hum, since full size is performing 3d it must be OK for models right. No unnecessary rules and regs needed now. Just think the model guy's taught them 3d not the other way around pretty cool.

Just a thought - is it not the fact that a full size metal prop has more gyroscopic effect to drag the aircraft round than the small nylon ones on our models?
|
3D manuevers...
No - the gyroscopic effects would only help to throw the plane off the yaw plane of axis during the double hammerhead.
