over 6V on servos?

Does anyone of you use 5 NiXX cells without voltage regulator to run the servos. I guess that is well over 7V when charged. Wouldn`t that damage the servos? I`m talking about 'normal' servos as well as about digitals.

RE: over 6V on servos?

Many of us use 5-cell NiMh packs with standard receivers and servos. No regulator. Voltage right off the charger can be as high 7.2 volts. No problem.

Seems to be generally true, but I did have a JR retract servo that worked OK on 4.8 but woldnot work on a 5 cell battery.

RE: over 6V on servos?

I use 5 cells NIMH and NEVER use a reg ( wouldn't have one as a gift )
some guys are running 2 cell lithiums -with NO regulators - on rx or servos
I won't mention brands or names - but they work just fine -and the servos really work !- This is not an endorsement to try it on your own stuff .
The 180 JR retract servos sometimes would not work (they are POD type) unless the ATV was set correctly -On 6 v, mine always worked fine .
