O, and sorry for the bay talk, but can you guys maybe explain to me why Horizon are so backlogged? I cant get the parts I need to fix the Funtana's Horisontal stab, because thy dont have stock! They dont have cowls, not for the Funtana, and not for the Showtime 50 either? I'm in South Africa, so phoning isnt really an option...

what now?

Speaking of throws...what is everyone running for rudder to elevator mix?

I am at 11% and 12%

Aileron has only 2% mixed to rudder to keep it from slowly trying to roll during knife edge. It knife edges almost perfectly with this.

When accelerating out of a hover (and it does like a rocket) I have to give a small amount of left rudder and right aileron.
is that rudder to elevator mix comes to cancel the fact that whan i go knife edge the plane always goes like i hold a negative ele ?

the elvatoer stab is centered but when i measure the distance form rudder to elvator it is off. if i push the rudder center then look at the rudder it's not stright

tamir...you are right.

Thanks guys...and the kids do have those advantages today over us....but hey...I had a few video games too! I'm old...but not that old (31 yrs)!

I remember flying with my dad... who taught me, having a super sportster 40 (that had probably 250 flights on it in 2 or 3 years) when I was 9 years old. After having a pt trainer, the sportster was a blast! Also, flying upside down was fun...but I still remember holding quite a bit of down elevator to keep it level...compared to all the mid wing aerobats I have now...

Now my dad still flies with me, he's 73...but he flies quite often, and he loves watching me fly.

tsyssa,

Yea, kids are great. My son use to fly with me. He started around 11 years old. He is now 19 and girls and cars are more important. I hope he will come back to the sport at some time.

Just keep a plane ready for him and he'll be back.

Steve,

As long as I do not re-kit it for him before then :D.

LOL...thanks guys...
I am sure if you have a plane for him...he'll be back!

When you installed the stabalizer, did you measure from wing tips as well as centering stab?

dragnbye 10-01-2007 05:39 PM

RE: Funtana X100

ya i measured for the back and form wing tips wings are even along the stab length it's weird

Jimeni 10-01-2007 05:55 PM

RE: Funtana X100

Well, if thats good and your rudder is centered on the vertical stab, I'd say you don't have a problem.

ya i think it will be fine i just going glue it in i tried of messin with it. my dx7 should be here tomorrow so i can just about finsh this thing up

i think i must just be measuring wrong becuse ther is no way the rudder stab be off that bad

ya i ahavent glued it yet the measure are 11 1/4 and 11 3/8 and here are some pics the rudder look stright but to get the measurenet = i have to bend it and then it looks wya off i would show you that but i cant bend it with the ruler and take a pic

It would appear to me from the first pic that the vertical tail is leaning to the left hence your shorter distance when comparing it to the right side[ sides are referred to looking from the tail ]
A square is what you need to determine if the vertical tail is at 90 degrees in relation to the horizontal tail.
I can take a pic and post it if you,d like in order to demonstrate this measurement.

thx Dave

p.s. A picuture is worth a thousand words as I like NitroWing had no idea what you were trying to describe in your first posting. The pic you posted tells the tale it would appear.

You mean a Square? Duh................

Looks like your vertical stabalizer is warped. Straighten it with an iron, you'll be fine.

nitro wing 10-01-2007 09:55 PM

RE: Funtana X100

Is the fin and or Rudder warped?
Is the fin slot off centered?
Can you take a pic from the front, centered as much as possible with the fin in the slot and then one with the rudder attached?
Just tape it in place

Oops, I meant here is a pic of my square on my FuntanaX, sorry for the slip up again.;)

thx Dave

nirto i check the fin it looks good i took a pic of that but it may be hard to tell i will get some pics up tonight. i will also take some more of the slot and you want one form the front with the rudder in and correct right. i want to buy one of those "right angle measuring device" but my hobby shop was out and i really dont like going to the other one but i guess i will suck it up. i post more pics up tonight thabks guys

Syssa Aircraft 10-02-2007 09:23 AM

RE: Funtana X100

In the first pic, it looks as if the fin is aiming to the left a bit...that is all I could see...as the fin looks straight on, but the fuse is off to the left.
