Does anyone have one of these? I am seriously considering this.

I had one, flew pretty nice sport. Knife edge coupling. Hovered good. Covering has a rep of coming off. Maybe it's fixed now. This was a couple of years ago. 5 pounds with a 46-53 2-stroke.

Sir, i belive that was the magic extra. i just odered the mini (.15-.20) with a 25 FX. And now it is coved in monocote!

Hitecman-

I have one but have not yet flown it. I'm using a 15 OS LA in it. Seemed like it is a good quality ARF. fuse is very cramped for radio installation but there are three openings in the fuse to make installation easier..

I should be flying it soon this summer.

I bought one a couple weeks ago and I am planing on puting an OS .25 in it.
I won't start building for a couple more weeks though.

I'll keep you posted when I do.

How was ease o construction. This is the set up i just bought for mine. OS 25 FX, 2 HS 81's (TAIL), 3 HS 55 Two for wing one for throttle. If you have any suggestions just tell me.

I went out and bought a OS .25LA for mine(blue) 9X4 Zinger prop, 4 HS 81 Mini's Hitech 555RX and 4.8v Battery pack.

So now that the flight gear is handy I may get started on this very soon.

Your title says Magic Extra. Maybe I'm confused.....

The one I have and what I think he was considering is the ModelTech Mini Magic Extra. 20/480 as it is designed for either a 480 electric or .20 IC engine.

Want to say a few things about my build.

I started building mine last night, mounted the wing up OK, added the ply reinforcement, Mounted the belly pan(didn't fit the out line of the wing real well, but it's OK). Hinged the Aileron's,They needed the slots cleaned out, but lined up pretty nice. Mounted the Horizontal stab, While trimming the covering off some of the stiping just lifted off, so I had to get out the Iron and went over everything. Fits tight but it's pepindicular to the wing. Rudder fin needed some work to get it vertical and I had to get the dremel out and hog out the bottom of the fuse for the tail wheel assembly. Got the rudder hinged. On to the motor mount..........\\

This is what gets my gull, Being my second Model Tech kit I should have known better,
So I clamp the beam mounts to the OS .25, sqaure it up and then take my measurements, the firewall has a vertical and a horizontal thrust lines already scribed in. So next step is to just mark the location of the mounts verticaly, then the instrcutions tell you to mark the top horizontal line 3/8" above thrust line and then down 23/64ths below thrust line. Guess what? That produces a total dimension of .375 + .359 =.734 or 3/4"aprx(19mm). The distance between mounting holes on the back of the beam is 28mm or 1.1".
Glad I didn't get the drill OUT!.

Why do manufactures let this happen? For pete's sake, take a kit give it to one of the non modeling workers and tell them to build it!
That will tell you right off where you scewed up.
Oh well I'm blowing off some steam over a fairly minor issue, but it just ticks me off.


So to all of you out there, any guess as to how much thrust offset should be included in the mounting of the engine?

Mine is done. It was an ok kit. Covering was horrid. well only the black stripe. The Monokote was put on freezing it seems like it peeled right off. Otherwise great kit.

Did you go electric or Gas? Mine is 99.9% finished as of now, spent the day on it, and I'm now installing(looking for a place)the on off switch and charge jack.

My all up weight is 33 Oz's which is not bad for having a OS.25 and a 5 Cell 1100Mah pack in it.

Yeah the covering is going to be a work in progress.

Well I'm off to put the switch in and fire it up for a full power range check.

test went good. Quick plane. Easy landing. Fun plane to fly with the 25 FX.

Easy landing? That's a big prop for that motor!

I found the landings to be a bit tough in no wind condidtions. It drops like a rock dead stick.

I had no bad landings but one a tad rough on the gear and when I inspected the airframe afterwards I found the former at the rear of the wing had come lose from the fuse. Nothing a littel CA couldn't fix.

I also noticed the trim on aileron's changing from flight to flight. and a little CG sensitive. I set mine at 3".

Can you tell if there is any thrust angle on your engine? I mounted mine up on the thrust line and looks like I have none.

It's definetly a fun plane, short 6 minuet flights on that 85 CC tank. I'm running an apc 9X6 and it almost has unlimeted vertical. Tops out about 200'

Did you tach the engine with that prop? I'm turning about 10 to 11K .

Real easy landings. come in at a fast idle and flair right towards the bottom. The MA 10X$ is perfect for this plane and the 25 FX. Mine has unlimeted into an easy hover. GREAT LOMCHEVACKS. Its alittle nose heavy on the stock CG. I have not looked at the thrust or tached it. Just gas it, grip it, and rip it.
