YS 63 PROP SLIP
Hi, I am using a ys 63 and have noticed that the spinner backplate is scored up indicating prop slip.
Apart from pegging the prop driver or overtightening the prop nuts are there any other solutions? Any help would be appreciated. Thanks __________________________________________________ _____________________ Trev |
RE: YS 63 PROP SLIP
Trev.... I may be overtighten...But all is still good after a couple years.. But I run two YS 63fz they both
had props from APC, Zinger in 12.75X3.75 (numbers maybe wrong) up to a 14x4W on T.T. spinners and no spinner and have not had that problem, same with 4 other members at the field that run that engine??? My prop hub was in great shape from the start and still is.... I think it's Central hobbies that sells a bigger prop washer, But it may be for the bigger YS's?? |
RE: YS 63 PROP SLIP
try a sandpaper disc behind the prop.

RE: YS 63 PROP SLIP
Club20racer,
I have 3 YS63 and two of them did what like you said. I don't know what I'm doing wrong but as a solution I just use the sandpaper disc trick. I also file small grooves behind the prop hubs. This solution is not permanent, once in a while it'll need to be redo but usually I broke my prop long before. |
RE: YS 63 PROP SLIP
Try using some leather as a washer especially if you have an aluminum spinner back plate. The aluminum on aluminum doesn't have much friction and you may get some slippage and this will wear the drive washer to the point that it has to be replaced.

RE: YS 63 PROP SLIP
Your prop is too loose.. Tighten the nuts a little more! I have had this with my 63, 110 and 140. Just a fraction more should do it!

RE: YS 63 PROP SLIP
Ask the guys at YS on the engine manufactures forum. The YS performance guys should have some pointers. I have two 63s, a 91 and a 1.10 and have never had a problem but I know guys who have. Dave Shandel at YS Performance responds to the posts in that forum and he is the nations expert on all things YS.
